(fbsfjeu I cannot get over how well rounded and thought-out your characters are)
Dream:
I shake my head at Destiny. There's a loud noise outside and I tilt my head slightly.
"Well I was gonna suggest we get a move on, but I'm pretty sure you two wouldn't like going out in the rain," I say, shrugging. "I don't mind the rain," I continue.
Ant:
"We could leave now..." I say hesitantly. I decide we should go, even in the rain, and fly into planning mode. "Destiny, go into your room and check if my little sister left any rainboots or a coat. I have a few waterproof bags we could use for food and extra clothes. When you're done with that, get a few plastic grocery bags for the wet clothes," I order, before heading to the door.
"I'm heading to our upstairs neighbors' house, they have a truck, I know where they keep the keys. I also learned from my friend Urso how to siphon gas, but we'll need to stop at the old hardware store. Dream, I need you to go into my bedroom, grab a waterproof bag from the back of the door, and fill in with four extra sets of clothes," I say before walking out the door, not bothering to close it.
As I walk down the hallway I hear Dream speak.
"Uhm... Destiny, where's his room at?"
Zak:
I sigh and lean on Alex, the top of my head just under his chin.
I yawn and slip out of his arms, grabbing his hand, leading him back to the couch. I push him back onto the reclining seat of the couch and lay down, resting my head on his lap, letting my eyes slide shut. I grab a blanket off the back of the couch and throw it on Alex's head.
I toss another planet over myself and drift back into sleep.

(Thanks not many of my characters are thought-out. Destiny is the most thought-out of the three.)
Destiny:
Destiny respects Dream's decision of not wanting to be hugged. She smiles at the rain comment. Rain didn't bother her as well. She used to live in Florida where rain was common, there was a swarming season of termites, and there had been at least one live Florida cottonmouth in her backyard. A thunderstorm didn't bother her. She loved thunderstorms and had fond memories from childhood related to rain and storms; large bodies of water, however, scared her.
Destiny looks to Ant when he takes charge of the situation. She listens carefully to his instructions and nods to let him know she understood, "Aye aye. If you don't come back in half an hour, I'm going after you!" She says as she hops to her feet while Ant leaves the room. She turns to Dream when he speaks.
"His room? This way." Destiny shows Dream to Ant's room and waits a moment in case Dream needed help with anything else. Then she hums a song under her breath as she skips to her room. Destiny finds a coat, extra clothes, and a waterproof bag. Satisfied with this, she headed to the kitchen to get the food.
Alex:
Alex grunts in surprise when he gets pushed back onto the couch and the blanket thrown over his face. "Zak" Alex complains quietly, trying to solve the way out of the blanket. After a few moments, he did get the blanket off his head and he could see Zak resting his head on his lap. Alex chuckles softly and smiles. He sits cross legged, put his blanket on his lap to prop Zak's head up, and then helped put the blanket properly on Zak. He smiles when he completes his mission.
However, he couldn't hold his peace for long. He was bound to move at one point. Since he had woken up, he would be awake until he ran himself out of gas. Then he'd crash, and the cycle would start again. He tried not to disturb Zak because he couldn't disturb Zak. Zak was sleeping. Alex couldn't wake someone up; he'd get in trouble if he did. So he tried not to move too much. His leg bounced, he'd twitch at random intervals, and a few times he'd start talking to himself only to cut himself off with a snap of his fingers as he remembered Zak was sleeping and he couldn't wake him up.
Payton:
Payton was still trying to find Alex. He'd tried a few places already, all of which he hadn't found Alex in. Nikkie had stuck faithfully by his side, their paws getting muddy as they'd splash in every other puddle, whether on accident or on purpose, Payton couldn't tell. He spots the tree house and decides it'd be worth a shot. As he approached, it was quiet apart from the sounds of the storm around him. Alex couldn't be there. Alex was loud and talkative. Payton was about to leave when Alex happened to start rattling something off for a good minute before cutting himself off with a snap.
"Finally." Payton mutters to himself, entering the tree house. Nikkie follows Payton inside. He closes the door behind them. "Alex?" Payton calls as Nikkie shakes the water off their fur and then trots to the two on the couch.
"Not here." Alex says, recognizing Payton's voice and not wanting to see him. Alex sees the small fox and picks it up without thinking. "You're cute." He says as he pets the fox.
"Hands off." The fox yips, squirming out of Alex's grip and landing on the floor beside the couch. Nikkie quickly turns into their human so Alex wouldn't pick them up again. Alex stares at the kitsune in shock.
"Weren't you just a fox? ... Wait, you know what, nevermind. I'm sorry for petting you. I'm going crazy." Alex sighs and runs his hands through his hair. Payton approaches slowly to apologize.

Dream:
I trot down the hallway into the room destiny said was Ant's. I ruffle through draws on his dresser, packing up the instructed amount of clothes into a bag off the back of the door. Once I'm finished, I look around the room. It's neat as a pin, the desk organized, the bed made, and not a thing on the floor. The only thing not organized is the dresser I was just fumbling through. I chuckle at my messiness and then stroll back into the main room to wait.
Ant:
I sprint up the staircase, my long legs serving me well. I twist the handle to our once-neighbors room and the door slides open with ease. I walk into the bedroom and take the truck keys off the wall, spinning them on my finger as I walk back down the stairs. As I enter the room I notice Deram is back on the couch, with a bag sitting next to him. Although I walk in quietly, he's already looking at the door when I walk in.
I must have a strange expression on my face, because he speaks.
"I heard you walking down the hallway," he shrugs, before holding up the bag. "I got what you asked."
Zak:
*is asleep*

Destiny
Destiny hums happily from the kitchen when she hears Dream talking to Ant. Ant was here and safe. That was good. She wouldn't know what to do without Ant. Probably stay with Dream. She walks out of the kitchen and greets Ant with a hug, not thinking about it. Then she shows him the bags she had gotten, looking proud of herself for doing the tasks he had asked. "I got the food, the grocery bags, the coat, and clothes." She says, pointing to each thing as she mentioned them. She pauses, silently asking the question of if she missed anything.
Alex
Alex was debating waking Zak up. He wanted to wake Zak up so Zak could double check for him that he was seeing things right and then also so Zak would be there with him for emotional support or something. He couldn't wake Zak up, though, because Alex couldn't bother him for some foolish imagined stuff and he could deal with Payton on his own. If he woke people up, they wouldn't help or believe him. So waking Zak up would be pointless. "Payton, what do you want?" Alex growls softly.
"I just came to say I'm sorry. I'm sorry for lashing out at you and yelling at you." Payton pauses as if thinking of saying something else, but then he takes a step back and finishes, "I'll leave you alone now. I'm sorry." Nikkie looks back and forth between Payton, who was leaving, and Alex before nodding goodbye and heading after Payton, turning back into a fox once they were a good distance away from Alex so he wouldn't grab them.
Alex takes one look at the fox and throws his hands up, "I'm going crazy. I must be. Payton wouldn't know where I am or bother to come and apologize. And people can't turn into foxes!" He falls back against the couch and bursts into a hysterical cackle. Just as quickly as the laughter started, it abruptly turned into a sob. Alex put his arms over his face as he tried to quiet himself. He reminded himself to stay still, keep quiet, let Zak sleep. Alex wished he could stop imagining things and seeing things and just be a normal person.
Payton pauses while going out when he hears the laughter and crying. He closes the door and turns back to Alex, heading to make sure Alex was ok. "Alex, are you alright?"
"No. No I'm not." Alex groans. "I'm hearing things and seeing things. You're not here, Payton, because you wouldn't have brought someone. You don't know anyone else, especially not someone who knows how to turn into a fox. Also, people can't turn into foxes. At least, I didn't think they did."
Payton sighs and gently takes Zak's head off Alex's lap. Then he pulls Alex to his feet and wraps him in a firm hug. "Alex, I'm here. Just like you, I met someone. They happened to be a kitsune, a fox. Just like that kid there turned into your friend, Nikkie turned into one of mine. So I did meet someone who could turn into a fox. I came here to apologize for hurting you, they followed me. Also, you're not going crazy. Don't you worry." Payton says, gently rubbing Alex's back and slowly rocking him back and forth.
Payton inwardly sighs. Alex was overreacting again. Alex had freaked out once before, when his illusion powers kicked in, and he had gone on for a while how he couldn't trust anything in case he had just imagined it up. Payton managed to calm Alex down after that one. Hopefully this time he'd be able to calm him down better, faster, before anything negative could happen. Nikkie was intrigued by the human interaction and was making mental notes.

(Dude, I love how Payton didn't even flinch at the fact that a total stranger was sleeping with his head on Alex's lap xD)
Ant:
I give destiny a thumbs up with my free hand.
"Alright, the truck is parked in space 49, which is a ways away from the building. I think if we run, we could get there without getting too wet," I hesitate for a moment.
"I think," I say with a grin.
"Dream, Destiny, are you two ready?" I ask them.
Dream:
I nod at Ant, standing and slipping the bag over my shoulder stretch my arms in front of me as I look back and forth between my two new friends.
"I'm glad you two are coming with me, especially since you're leaving your home and everything you know. Though, I should probably confess something to the two of you," I say nervously.
Zak:
I'm jostled out of my sleep as somebody moves me. I notice Alex across the room, hugging someone I couldn't see. I sit up and stretch, groaning softly. I rub my eyes, blinking blearily. I'm in more pain than ever as I can feel new, larger gems popped up on my arms, shoulders, back, and now my lower neck.
"Alex?" I ask sleepily. "Who's there?" I ask, unable to avoid yawning after my sentence. I pull my sleeve down to my wrist and push my messy black hair out of my face, before letting my sweater paw fall back into place. I feel a jolt of emotion run through my body.
'No Zak, you're not jealous. You can't be. You haven't even known Alex for 24 hours yet, there's no way you're forming feelings for him,' I think, squeezing my eyes shut.

(xD After living with Alex for a while and having to witness the strange being Alex can be, I didn't think Payton would be surprised or startled by much.)
Destiny
Destiny smiles when Ant gives her the thumbs up. She was happy she had helped and done things right. "Yep yep yep." Destiny bounces when he asked her if she was ready. She was looking forward to getting into the rain. She picks up the bag and looks at Dream when he said he had something to say. She grins, a laugh bubbling up in her throat as she debated whether or not to pester everyone and sing a little song she learned during a camp about announcements. She decided against it, eventually, but that didn't mean she still didn't want to.
"I wouldn't be leaving everything I know. You couldn't make me leave my knowledge of the equation and solving of a parabola even if you tried." Destiny says with a sigh. "Math. I hate it."
The she finally processed the last sentence. "Confess something? Oh no, did you steal the cookies from the cookie jar?" She said it seriously, with a straight face, emotions controlled, and everything. Then she cracked and laughed at herself.
Alex & Payton
Alex listens to Payton's heart beating steadily and calmed down soon enough. "You did it again." Alex tells Payton, tapping Payton's side so he would let go. Payton releases Alex.
"What?" Payton asks so Alex could explain what he was talking about.
"You were telling me something about a Nikkie and friends and... I didn't catch anything else because the rest was in other languages. You mixed your languages up again." Alex chuckles. Then he hears Zak and turns a chipper smile on him. "Zak, this is Payton," he points to Payton, "and I'm assuming that is Nikkie." Alex points to the fox. "Payton, Nikkie, meet Zak. Now be best friends and get along so we can all be best friends forever. Yay!"
Nikkie wags their tail in greeting. Based off of Alex's reaction, Nikkie assumed that talking and transforming back into a human form was not something to do while around any human - other than Payton who seemed to habe no problem with it.

Dream:
"I guess it's not a huge deal, but... I did say I was from a few towns away. That's a total lie. I walked here from quite a bit further away..." I say, trailing off.
Ant:
"How far is much further?" I ask. Dream looks to the ground and mumbles something inaudible. He sighs and pulls a black swath of fabric from around his neck, creating a fashionable facemask of sorts, blocking off the only bit of his face that was visible.
"From Florida. I walked here from Florida," he says louder, seemingly more comfortable now that almost none of his skin, and his whole face, wasn't visible.
Zak:
I snarl at Payton.
"What're you doing here?" I growl softly. I remember he was the one who made Alex cry this morning when we had met. I stand, even though I'm groggy and I tend to be clumsy when I'm sleepy.
I walk up to Paton and glare at him, not talking at all. I may be quite a bit shorter than him, but I know I'm fairly scary when I'm angry, seeing as my old online friends said as such all the time.

Destiny:
"Hey! I'm from Florida, too! Did you like it there? Did you have a termite season, too, or was that just where I lived? Oh my goodness, I can't believe you're from Florida as well. This is exciting! Did you like the frogs and try to catch them? Did you have frogs where you were? Were you more inland or next to the Gulf of Mexico or other big body of water?" Destiny bounces in place, her big grin showing how excited she was to see someone from Florida. Her headband slips into her face again and she stops bouncing just long enough to shove it back into the position behind her ears. She chuckles at herself and slowly calms down, shuffling her feet and mumbling an apology for acting so childish. Once in a more calm mood, she noted, "That's a long walk."
She glances towards Ant and then back to Dream, "We don't have anything else we have to confess, right?"
Alex & Payon
Payton backs up a pace, not expecting to be growled at by someone he didn't know and was still looked and acted half asleep. His gaze flickered once from Zak to Alex and then went back to Zak. "I came to apologize, then Alex freaked out, so I stayed a tiny bit longer to help him calm down. I'll be going if you don't want me here."
Alex bites his lip and looks to his feet. Some of Alex wanted to fight back and make Payton pay for what he had done and so it wanted Zak to make Payton leave; but another part of him wanted to easily trust others and put down his guard and so it wanted Payton to stay.
Nikkie gets their paws under them and trots over to Payton, ready to leave with him if they were told to. Nikkie left muddy paw prints on the floor and their only partially retractable claws tended to scratch up the floor when extended; their claws were extended so they wouldn't slip.

Dream:
"I lived on the east coast side of the state, right by the ocean. It was a fifteen-minute drive to get from my house to the ocean, yet for some reason, my house still had a pool in the back yard," I say, and then shake my head. "I have nothing else to say. Just thought you guys should know," I turn to walk out of the room.
"And yeah," I say in a soft voice, stopping in the doorway. "It was a really long, lonely walk," I then begin heading back to the ground floor of the building.
Ant:
I shake my head at Dream's descending figure.
"That's insane," I say. I turn to Destiny with a little grin. "C'mon, let's not let him get too far away," I say before jogging after the range boy who called himself Dream.
Zak:
I sigh and flop against Alex's chest, resting my back against his chest. I glare at Payton, trying to telepathically tell him.. something. I'm not quite sure what though.
"At the end of the day it's your decision whether they stay or go," I say, looking up at Alex. "They're your friends after all. Although," I gesture at the fox, "That thing needs to stop scratching and muddying the floors of my house. Especially if it's going to stay," I say.

Destiny:
Destiny nods at Ant, "Right!" She skipped after Dream and Ant, catching up soon enough and slowing her skip down to match the pace Dream set. Destiny decided to give some information about where she lived. "I was in the pan handle, about a twenty five minute to around an hour drive to the Gulf of Mexico depending on the traffic and what day it was, haha. We didn't have a pool, but our neighborhood did have a swampy marshy type thing in the backyard that connected us with a few neighboring neighborhoods."
Destiny gasps slightly, realizing she had forgotten to ask a very important question, "Did you ever go to Disney World? You probably lived closer than I did so you'd've had to have gone at least once."
Alex & Payton
'That thing' comment ruffled Nikkie's fur. "Hey, I'm not just a thing, ok? I'm a powerful kitsune and I'm greater than you'll ever be." The kitsune turns into their human form, their grey-blue eyes flashed dangerously, the gold flecks in their eyes seeming to streaks of lightning, further emphasizing the figurative - or perhaps literal - storm lurking beneath the surface. The kitsune had their knives out and ready to attack.
"Calm down, Nikkie. Zak didn't mean any disrespect." Alex says, hugging Zak for a second before placing himself between Zak and the kitsune. "Perhaps we should split ways. I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt." He says, keeping an eye on Nikkie. The kitsune slowly sheathed their weapons, though they looked ready to pounce still. Payton nods his head, understanding and respecting Alex's decision. He inches forward, keeping an eye on Zak as he offers Alex a hug, which Alex accepts.
"See you later." Payton says to Alex, backing up and taking Nikkie's hand to take them away.
Alex nods and echoes, "Later." He watches Payton and Nikkie leave.
