Wolfsbane paced towards Bones. "Who had the courage to defeat the Dark Stallion? To rebel? To heed the words of the white mare? And who is the rightful heir of this position? My vote is for Bones. After all, it was him who drove the Dark Stallion away." Harvest bounced up happily, still a little shocked, but the light had returned to her eyes. "I vote for Bones, too!" she squeaked,

Janglars hissed under her breath, and silently slid to the edges of the herd. Great. The proud and glorious Bones would get all the attention. Of course they'd vote for him.

Grane watched as Bones accepted his new roll as leader of the herd. He had the right heritage for being the leader. But it depended on his actions if Grane was gonna follow him. And not just by who his father was.
