"You guys-- No, it's not even remotely similar to the Phantom Ruby. The energy it gives off is different. It might be an early prototype," Knuckles sighed, praying to Tikal for patience he kenw he didn't have.

Shadow:"Okay.."

Pearl:"But it's a purple Saphire,not a ruby.So it's connected somehow.."

"Now your just contridicting yourself!" Knuckles excliamed. Sonic sighed. "Well, We can't keep it around because we cant control it. We've established that, yes?"

Shadow:"Well yah but somethimes we can't control the emeralds.."

"That's different," Knuckles said. "Lemme see one a sec?"

Shadow tossed one to Knux

"Thanks," Knux said wait a nod as he caught the gemstone. He let it hover between his hands a moment before it began to orbit around him. The echidna's eye color changed form dark violet to a vibrant green.

"You see," He began to explain. "The thing with Chaos Emeralds is that they react to emotion. For instance, if Sonic there were to do something dumb that made me upset, the Emerald would react accrodingly. So if you can keep your emotions in check, you have nothin' to worry about. Chaos wasn't able to do that, so that caused a problem. At least we have some control,"

"And you know what they say about the best teacher being experiance," Sonic chimed in.

Knux nodded. "Exactally," He looked at Pearl and Shadow. "And for the record, this isn't open for debate. The stone's energy feels off, and it obviously can't be controlled. We can't keep it," With that, his eyes returned to ther normal color and he passed the Emerald back to Shadow. He sat down in the grass and began to undo the bandage.
