Try to calm down the cub and take out the thorn.

The cub settles down. As you pluck out the thorn, it winces but holds still.
It comes and licks your face.

You head towards a huge tree, where you can think you can find its mother. You inspected the tree and notice blood and claws marks, its mother was obviously dead. The cub hides behind you, it must be scared.
