The walkway turned from stone to iron grating, through the giant maze of clockwork, and the grinding of metal on metal was extremely loud. There was a twisting iron staircase that led up to a trapdoor.

Nothing. The room they were in was empty, save for the enormous boiler ovens that glowed red and filled the air with hissing steam.
