Cutting your rest short, you pick up the pup again and continue on, now at a fast trot. Yet the pup is yelping. You seem to be hurting it. You put it down and stare at it in a troubled way. You pick it up again, and resume your pace. But it still yelps, most likely due to the bumpiness in your fast pace. What do you do? The wolf may leave by the time you reach them if you were to go slower, but the pup wouldn't be in pain. If you go faster, the pup will be battered but you might make it to the wolf.

You point your nose in direction of the overhang, and walk towards it. The other wolf follows you slowly. When you make it there, you yawn and sit down. What do you do now?

Feeling you shouldn't abandon the wolf cub, you slow down your pace.

I barked softly at the wolf to join my pack again, using my tail to signal the overhang as good shelter, and the nearby lake as a good source of food.

I'll put the pup down for a minute to howl for the other wolf
