Personality: He is blunt, can appear emotionally dead, and prefers solitude to others presence. However, if he is with others, he usually gathers as much energy as he can and spends it all in being outgoing and friendly as well as anything else the situation calls for. He can get haughty and prideful if given the right conditions.

Backstory:
Kanoa grew up in a town next to a large body of water. He grew up, had a very normal childhood of friends coming and going as interests and circumstances changed. He had many friends when he was young, being a friendly person despite insecurities. His best friends are the reason he's pushed himself to be better. However, their constant pressure and presence and demeaning attitudes about his anxious and insecure personality that had him dubbed 'Petrie' made him choose things young kids shouldn't. He became a bully of a sort. He put up expectations for himself and constantly compared his actions to that of what he imagined would be his perfect self and found that he was nowhere close to being there. He would work himself to where he wouldn't be able to do anything anymore, exhausted both mentally and physically and feeling as helpless and unachieved as he began the project. He would refuse help from anyone and was dragged further and further into his 'inability' to do anything important. He threatened to drop out of school often.
Eventually, a bright young woman found a way to connect with Kanoa. She helped him climb up from the pit he had dug and helped clear the mess he thought was his life. This bright young woman, Cathy, told him sweet nothings and used him for her benifit. She claimed he was her boyfriend and he didn't stop her from doing so. However, Cathy wasn't all she seemed to be. She constantly talked negatively about him behind his back so she would be the only support he would ever have. He found out about the conspiracy, but by that time, Cathy had dug him quite a well to get out of. He left her, knowing she would bring nothing more than trouble. He struggled on his own, his mindset quickly becoming similar to that when he was a child with the added discouragement that told him relationships were all fake and couldn't be trusted, that people were putting on a mask of an amicable attitude and doing things because of an obligation of an extent, and that he was worth nothing more than wasted space. He still hasn't completely grown out of that mindset though he does his best to put up with and ignore it.
He decided he wanted to join the military. He moved away from the town next to the water that had been his home for so long. At first, moving was a gift, being able to be in different places every few years, but then he grew to miss his waterfront home terribly. He was just checking in for work, driving onto the military base, when his world changed - literally! [insert being teleported to magical land with angry pigeon creature here]

New Appearance:
A tiefling, bold in many opinions, walks into the room. His slate grey eyes matched those of a human; his honeyed skin tone fits inside the range of the humans colors; and while his dark burgundy hair could have been dyed, the curving, gleaming, and sharpened horns crowning his head suggested that the strange coloring was a natural part of being a tiefling - not a human. He smirks when he notices others' reactions to his arrival, allowing his sharp canines to flash in the lighting. He stands a little taller and holds his head a little higher. He nods his greeting to the few that dare to stare at him.
As he passes closer, the scent of a salty seas breeze seems to radiate off of him, masking the underlying smell of ash and smoke. He glances towards the party, his grey eyes flashing for a moment. He offers another nod and small smile towards the group before finishing his stride. He then continues coolly on without a second glance, heading to the crowning fixture of the site. Being willowy and tall and with others moving out of the way of his lashing tail, the tiefling would be hard to lose even in this crowded section of town. As he passes, seeming to loom over those around him, you notice the shield on his back looked worn, the symbol on it strange but unmarred, and its clear that this piece of protection has been cherished and well taken care of.
Past Appearance:
Kanoa puts his hair back - bleached though black roots are beginning to show - and dons his favorite cap. He starts the engine of his boat as he sits down, grinning despite the fact that the previous day had not gone well for him. The movements are well rehearsed as he pulls out of the dock, his grey eyes checking for any danger as he does so. The wind picks up from off the large lake and sweeps a chill through the young man on his boat. The butterflies it brings only succeeds in making his smile wider. Being out in the sun and with a biting wind catching the edges of his jacket didnt bother him. His mothers side of the family claimed that being Hawaiian meant that they were harder to burn in the sun. His father had a resistance to cold that he had apparently inherited though both sides of the family called the resistance - even welcoming of the cold - strange and unearthly.

Other abilities/info: Fishing, collecting sea shells or smoothed sea glass, water skiing, and other waterfront hobbies are some of his favorite things to do in his freetime. He struggles with maintaining good relationships. He will most likely be hesitant to accept a pact of friendship but will willingly place his life on the line for any who work beside him.

Personality: Alyx is not easily deterred. He is very playful and easily entertained. They can get distracted by little things but will focus when they are interested in a subject. Alyx typically spends hours solving different puzzles and riddles.

Backstory:
Alyx grew up in a very busy city with his parents making a racket in and a mess of the family's apartment. He hated being an only child. He enjoyed being with others and couldn't wait for the next school day when he would be able to whisk outside and be a normal kid with normal friends and pretend to have a functioning family that all the other kids boasted of. All he remembers of changing houses and families is that he couldn't wait to have someone to play with inside the placed dubbed 'home'. He grew competitive among the other children. He flourished in the family that wasn't too loud for his liking. He learned how to build things with the plentiful legos, cardboard boxes, and other things children will take to form whatever their imagination can make laying around.
School was a struggle for him, always had been. He didn't like putting his time and effort into english and p.e. though he absolutely adored math and art - even if he was or was not good at those subjects. It seemed too soon that he grew out of the home and found a place of his own, heading into the world to go to college and get a degree in engineering. His best friend, Payton, went with him and pursued his own course of study. Alyx succeeded in getting his college degree despite losing most of the people he knew and loved during his childhood. Payton stayed with him and the two have talked about asking the other out on a date some time since Payton remarked that "all the other great guys and gals out there have been called for, taken and married off". The two have been sharing the job of paying for their shared apartment. Payton had absolutely roasted Alyx in a competitive but friendly card game when [insert being teleported to a magical land with angry pigeon monster here].

Other abilities/info: They get really excited when games are brought up. Alyx is easy to please and easily entertained, able to be fascinated by a simple pebble for over an hour. Alyx is known by neighbors to be that crazy cat person as they had one of their own in a neighborhood of owners of dogs. Resilient through various hardships, they have finished a college degree in engineering.

Love them both! A big fan of the land before time reference as well [it was a solid 90% of my childhood].

I will probably be starting the game at the end of the week, since most would have some weekend free time and I'd like to make sure anyone who wants to join before it starts gets the chance to.

Late-joining players are okay too if it's only within the first week or two of the game starting.

That's okay! Whatever you think is easier for you is fine, you can join back with your character or a new one if you ever feel like you want to during the two-week interval where everyone's getting used to the game.

I've also got a few quizzes and an overload of homework, so I completely understand, it's not easy to make time for both schoolwork and personal life. For what it's worth you have a great character and I hope you do great with school! I have to get back to my class so I may not reply to any messages for a bit.

Hey! I should have put this down initially but I'd really like for your characters to have backstories on their sheets! I only just remembered while putting together the character list on the RSVD post.

Please add a backstory, they describe their life before Argorin and maybe some relationships/friendships that the character might think about in-game, any ties with the real world affect the gameplay and it would give the characters a lot more depth. I know some have already put backstory in their other/extra section so the only thing those would need to do is put it in a 'backstory' section which is now on the official sheet form.

They have a large black cat named Bumble who has been known for laying in the kitchen sink and not leaving until she gets physically moved by either Casey or Norma. Casey's jobs cause him to deal with a lot of angry customers and messes, so he's now practically unfazed to anything- but boy will he be surprised when he's in the middle of clocking out from a long shift at [Insert big-name restaurant here] and ends up in a totally different relm.
