"you're going to what!?" i exclaim, rising to my feet so fast the chair behind me fall to the ground. the woman stops me by calmly putting her hand up in a "halt" gesture. "you are going to be on the show." she states again.


"the game is simple" she says, turning her attention away from me "you start off with a sentence of seven years. for every time you die, three years are added to your sentence. do not contact anyone in your old life, it is imperative no-one recognizes you. you will each be given a new identity to assume while on the show, and if you zero out on your sentence - that is, reach a sentence of zero years- you will be given an alibi to explain your break in employment." she says, pulling four cylinders from her desk.

i stare at her in disbelief, how many times has she done this to other unsuspecting victims!? she's treating this like it's nothing! "i'll let you pick which one you want, they all contain the same thing" she says, gesturing to the four identical black cylinders on her desk.

Alastor grumbles and grabs the one in the middle of the four and holds it. "Now what do we do," Alastor said rudely already mad that he is now entertainment to people.

"Interesting!" Eris beams, seemingly unfazed. She takes the first of the four cylinders delicately.

"Simple enough." Irin agrees as she mulls the new information over in her mind before nodding. She mumbles a word of thanks and lets her leg bounce in anxious anticipation. If all the black cylinders all contained the same thing, why bother debating about which one you got she decides as she takes one of the remaining ones.

i take the last cylinder, inspecting it. on one side there is a small, almost invisible button. curious, i go to press it, but the woman snatches it out of my hand before i can. "do not press that, you will waste the nanites." she scolds, holding out her hand "now give me your arm" she orders.

i nervously hand her my arm, and she grabs my wrist, pressing one end of the device to the skin and pressing the button. there's an odd, cold sensation, kind of numb and tingly, but it soon fades. when it's done, she places the device on her desk looking around. "who wants to be next?"

Irin watches the process of transferring the nanites, curious. She finds the change from choosing one of the bottles to giving it back and having what's inside it go into your arm quite amusing. She shrugs and hands the device back, offering her arm as well. She doesn't trust what she can't see on most days, but that isn't an excuse she can make at this point in time. If she wanted to get out faster, she'd have to suck it up and continue on with the process. The game didn't sound or look too hard anyways, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Eris raises her hand eagerly, leaning back in her chair and handing the woman the cylinder once Irin is done.. Weird, I figure this is the 'enhancements' or whatever?

Alastor sighed and holds his arm out and waits for his turn.

once everyone has been given the enhancements, the woman stands up, swiping the devices off her desk and into the trashcan. she pulls her desk drawer open, pulling out four black boxes, all identical except for the names printed on the top.

she pushes the first one forward, one with the name "Alastor" printed on it in bold text. "inside each box is your weapon, you will not be trained with before hand, it will be like nothing you've ever had before. this is because we want the viewers to be able to watch as you begin to master your ability. be warned, you will not be good with using your weapons until you practice, they were designed that way" She gives a pointed look at Konrad, clearly implying she knows something, though i'm not sure what.


"please open your box, Alastor" she urges, placing her hands in front of her while we all watch for what's going to happen.

Alastor sighed and opened the box.
