The wind outside is picking up, and a couple of kids laugh after a particularly loud burst of thunder. A girl sits by herself reading on a couch in the corner, while two boys play a game of chess on a nearby table.
"Busy morning, huh?" Rohan asked the waiter as he approached the counter stand. "Just.. the usual black coffee and an egg sandwich for me. And an iced mocha to go for Alex." He went for his wallet from his jacket, stopping when he noticed the waiter's tired expression.
"You look like you haven't slept in days. You alright?"
Yep. Work sucks this early. He yawns and disappears under the counter to get your order.

I stand up and wander over to the boys playing chess. "Can I watch?" I mouth at them. I don't have anything better to do, and I can't play chess very well. Might as well see if I can pick up anything.

One of the boys looks at you with eyebrows raised, but pulls out a seat. *Sure. We just started, anyways.* He has dark brown hair and a prominent nose, while the other boy has lighter hair.

Leo** waited in silence and left his card on the counter for the barista to swipe through the register. He was looking around at the decor of the cafe. He had been coming here for several years, but today seemed especially quiet. He wasn't sure what to make of it.

After a minute or two, the barista stands up and sets your coffee on the counter. Before you can pick it up, however, you notice faint ripples across it*s surface. The ground trembles slightly under your feet, and the people around you have seemed to notice it as well.

"Thanks," I say, and sit down in the chair, intending to see if I can make sense of anything. Besides, it's probably going to be the most entertaining thing I can find in here besides the books.

As the other boy squints at you, you feel a slight shaking beneath your feet. You seem to be the only one who notices it, but when the ground shakes so hard that the chess pieces fall and books topple from the shelves, people begin to take notice. The thunder crashes outside.

Was that an earthquake? There weren't supposed to be earthquakes here. Leo looked around the cafe at what he was feeling before grabbing onto something to steady himself and tried his hardest to keep himself from panicking. He wasn't sure what else to do in the moment, but he didn't feel like the ground was steady enough to try to find better shelter.
