"Who are you calling a nerd?" complained Renae, rolling her eyes and gulping down her lemonade. "Pity about the curfew, though, I wish I could stay until midnight or sneak out of my house or something. Now that would be fun."

*Well, curfews are just more of a suggestion, its more for safety, so as long as we arent doing anything suspicious, were fine, we might just get told to hurry home or stay safe or something* Tess commented.

The group headed over to where their bikes were locked, opening up the locks and putting the locks on handlebars and baskets.

*Ugh, I hate having to lock my bike, my lock always sticks and I hate it!* Oliver complained.

*The lock is sticking because that isnt your bike. Remember you ditched your lock and just locked ours together* Barry called over to Oliver, who looked more closely at the bike.

*S&!+ youre right, lets just hope nobody saw that* Oliver jumped over the rack over to Barry, and the two separated their bikes.

*Ill go first since I have the brightest flashlight on my bike, and Im done getting on my bike first, so hurry up losers* Tess said, riding in a circle as she waited for everyone else.

Dhalia smiled, unlocking her bike second, she took the combination lock and shoved it inro her skirt pocket. She sat on her bike, foot stuck to the ground for balance. "Make sure you don't fall while going in circles, Tess.", The taller girl teased the brunette.

Renae hurriedly unlocked her bike and dropped the lock in the basket, "Don't get dizzy," she said with a wink, as she backed her bike out of the rack and swung her leg over it.

"Don't worry, I'm like, super good at riding bikes" Tess scoffed.

The 5 teens took off with Tess in the lead, heading back to home for the night.

"So, I'm thinking that maybe tomorrow, later in the day, we could have a movie night? I suggest princess bride and maybe Ferris beuler's day off?" Tess turned her head as she talked to her friends behind her.

As her attention was away from in front of her she hit a bump on the street, causing her to swerve and the bike went flying into the shrubbery on the side of the road while Tess rolled not far behind it, letting out a sharp yelp as she rolled.

"Tess! what just happened?" Oliver called out as him and Barry stopped short, hopping off their bikes to help her. Barry ran over to where he heard Tess fall while Oliver pulled out his phone's flashlight, shining it on the road near where Tess hit something.

"uh... guys... what..." Oliver's phone dropped to the asphalt. "Oh my god... what is that, guys, what" Oliver panicked.

"What's up Ollie, she didn't hit an animal, did she?" Barry helped Tess up and they pulled her bike free from a bush, the flashlight attached to the handlebars landing on something laying in the street

[The flashlight's gaze laid on a human figure sprawled out on the side of the street, blood pooling underneath it. The body had a greenish color, had several missing fingers, and was fairly shredded up, clothes and skin alike torn up

"OHMY GOD" Barry yelled, Tess screaming at the sight.

"Oh my god, i killed him, oh my god, what do we do" Tess freaked out, dropping her bike back to the ground.

"Tess, there's no way your bike did that...this... oh god, we gotta call the police or something" Oliver said, his voice shaky from fear. Barry ran back to his bike, pulling his phone out of the basket and dialing his mom's number. Tess and Oliver were both at Barry's side, holding onto each other in fear, Oliver had an arm around Tess and the other around Barry, while Tess had her arms tightly wrapped around Oliver.

Barry had an arm extended invitingly, offering comfort to the other two girls in the group as he waited for his mom to answer her phone.

(I should also probably note bar these guys have been friends since,, like somewhere between pre school and first grade, so physical affection is pretty natural to them with each other, and they also often have sleepovers with each other too)

Renae made a squeaking noise and clapped both hands out of her mouth, from shock and to keep herself from screaming, her fingers were shaking. She knew she should probably not stare at it, but she just couldn't tear her eyes away.

Dahlia had stopped with a swerve, rushing over with the boys. She stopped when she saw the lump on the side walk, not noticing it was a corpse yet. "And you where saying you were 'like, super good at riding bikes'?" , She muttered. When Oliver shown the flashlight on the lump, she emedietly made a grossed out face, steping back; not wishing to get any of the "evidence" on her. "Welp, Barry we might just need to talk to your momma tonight.", Dahlia said with a strained awkward chuckle.

Mrs Ryder quickly showed up with a few more squad cars, the five kids were standing in the full light of the flashing red and blue of the cars.

*Oh you poor babies... were going to do an investigation, I called Ben to come pick you all up in his truck, so you can toss your bikes in the back... Ive talked to all your parents already, and you can stay over our house for the night if you want... you poor darlings shouldve never had to see something so gruesome* Mrs Ryder went and hugged each kid individually, making sure they were okay.

*I... I wanna sleep over... I think... I dont really know, I... I dont wanna be alone* Oliver said.

*Yeah... me too, I hope you dont mind, Barry, sorry if Im intruding.* Tess agreed.

*Don't worry guys, you know youre always welcome at my house... lets just wait for Ben and... try to forget about this or somethig* Barry tried leading his friends away from the scene, where cones were being put up.

Barely a minute after the police showed up, more cops showed up, but something about these cops seemed different as they quickly took over the operation, picking up the body on a stretcher and putting it in the back of some sort of emergency vehicle.

The 5 kids were all given shock blankets, and were sitting on the side of the road.

*So... are we gonna talk about any of this? It should we leave it until morning... or longer... this is just... I dont know, its too much right now* Barry was the first to speak.

Dahlia hugged the mother back. When she heard the idea of sleeping over, she hesitated a little. Dahlia finally made up her mind, not wanting to be left out. "Well, since y'all are going over to Barry's abode, I guess I'll join in." , She shrugged, trying to play it cool, despite the situation.

"I'm surprised someone didn't try and poke it with a stick. ", Dahlia muttered, trying to lighten the mood again.
