No you don't need to buy the pet itself.
(But i did buy unnamed from RUby.....because I wanted him for stuff. No need to do what i did tho ;) )

A weird looking sleigh is spotted by your pet in the sleeping costume on Christmas. It is midnight, and they are out pretending to be a cow, munching on grass and mooing. The sleigh accidentally lands on top of them, and the person inside just stares at it. They fart, and a nearby fly dies. The person drags you pet into their sleigh to annoy it for the rest of its life with their farts. Oof the end.
