The inn was nearly as warm as the smile on her face as she entered the place. It was nice to be out of the cold for once though at the sudden change Nabba seemed to wake some. It was too hot for him, after all he had came from a colder region and was used to the cold. "Don't worry, I'll get us a room and you can do with it as you wish." Liu smiled at him before marching up to the bar. The woman was speaking with a rather odd looking man though she said nothing. He had a mask over one whole side of his face though edges of scar tissue could be seen around it. For a moment she couldn't help but stare before she forced herself to look away. He was like Nabba, from a water clan. So what was he doing here? She hardly noticed when the woman turned to her.
"Ma'am? Did you need something?" The barmaid asked with a rather confused look at the woman. Liu snapped back to her senses and to reality.
"Um...yes! I was looking to purchase a room, preferably one with two beds, or even a second cot." The earthbender answered with a forced smile. She was still watching the on ther man out of the corner of her eye. Something about him kinda creeped her out.
"Alright then!" The barmaid said with a smile before taking the currency Liu held out for the room. Once handed the key the woman hurriedly stood before returning to Nabba.
"Let's get you to sleep? Don't want you getting sick on me again do we?" She asked the man helping him up the stairs.

I was partially aware, as I poured my second glass, that the woman who had just entered was staring at me. Or, at least, she was trying not to. Our gazes met for a second, before I returned to looking back at the solid crimson liquid that I clasped between my hands.

What's her deal? I thought, swirling the contents of the glass. I drank almost half of it before I paused, half-listening to their conversation. Though after a few seconds, I gathered that what they were saying was of no concern to me, so I did not bother to even turn my head even slightly. No matter. I can handle a few strange looks. I won't be here after tonight.

Out of the satchel strapped to my leg, I took a small map that I had kept on me for this particular journey. As I continued drinking, my eyes followed the lines from where I assumed I was to the cave I needed to be at. The image of the town was a lot more cheerful than reality - small red cottages in an idyllic country scene were intricately drawn onto its location. I should splash white paint over it, make it unrecognisable. Maybe then it would be more reflective of this place. My eyes drifted further north.

At least the cave looks realistic enough. A stone arch, worn by what appeared to be claw marks and perhaps the odd splatter of blood. Beneath, in red lettering, spelt out its name. Whoever made this thing had an eye for making settlements look nice and homes of the beasts like nightmares.

I continued to study my route. It looked as unpleasant as it could possibly be - over mountains, through potential nests of various deadly creatures, and, worst of all, through more villages that were probably going to be full of the descendants of Kisaro, judging by their placements and the style of architecture.

Just my luck, I thought, filling my glass again.

(Ok, thanks! They're not really swearing as far as I'm concerned either - I just wanted to make sure :)

Edit: It might be worth mentioning it on the RP sign-up page, just to make it clear, because there are some roleplays where people don't even allow 'hell' etc.)

After having led Nabba to the room and settling him in for the night, Liu returned to the bar. The strange man was still there, now looking at a map that looked a bit outdated in her option. She set down to the right of him pulling her own map from her pack. "It may be easier to find what your looking for with this."She smiled as she offered it to him. All she wanted was to kind to a of soul such as herself.

It took me a short amount of time to realise that the woman had returned, and was now sat by my side, a map in her hand. She extended her arm towards me, offering the roll of paper. I shook my head, my gaze returning back to my own map as I waved my hand in a dismissive gesture.

"No need," I responded gruffly, forgetting my courtesies through the very slight haze of drunkenness. Even after consuming a large portion of the bottle I had ordered, I was still not in a particularly good mood, and neither was I more inclined to speak with others.

I blinked a few times at the thin lines of ink. Resting my head on one of my hands, I narrowed my eyes, contemplating if there was a different way that would allow me to avoid most of the places. Though every way I looked, it seemed to add a significant amount of distance to my journey. I can't afford to take more time on this. Besides, there is not a single town along that path, and I do not have the supplies to camp overnight.

"I hate this damn job..." I quietly mumbled under my breath, clenching my left hand into a fist. I waited for a moment to let myself regain a little sense, before I continued trying to work out if there were any shortcuts ahead that I could take.

"You know if you need a guide to wherever you are going me and my partner would be happy to help you." Liu offered with a kind smile before putting her own map away again. Sure they didn't know the land but they could learn easily enough.
