She's silent for a short moment. Then her eyes widen. "J-joking! Joking. You were being sarcastic. That was sarcasm. I was kidding too." She must've taken his silence as a hint he was kidding about how long he's been here.

He was rarely one to joke or be sarcastic. He simply gave her a look that contradicted her statement. And a look that showed he had an idea of who she was.
