The jackal shot a menacing glare at Pearl, though didn't have time to react to the shot as Sonic and Knuckles landed two terrific hits at the same instant, down to the second. Infinite responded swiftly, distorting the gravity.

"I know." The echidna cut him off.
The gravity returned to normal, so the duo landed in a heap. Infinite looked at them.
"I will enjoy this greatly..." He said in a creepily clam voice.
Knuckles shoved Sonic off and got to his feet with a growl. Sonic got up as well, ears flattened.
"You don't learn, do ya?" Sonic snapped.
"I was about to ask you both the same question," Infinite replied.

Knuckles took a step forward and growled. Infinite just floated there. "Determined, I see. That's easily fixed..." he fired a wave of energy that hit all four opponents, then created his usual four illusions (Chaos, Metal, Shadow, and Zavok).

"You truly havnt changed, have you?" Infinite said, turning to Shadow. "I've taken entire armies. What makes you any different? No, one setback," he glanced at Sonic. "Isn't quite enough, I'm afraid,"
The illusions sprang into battle mode. Sonic and Knuckles stood back to back. "You take Metal, I take Chaos?" Sonic proposed. Knuckles flashed him a thumbs up. "Works for me," They sprang into the attack, Sonic landing a series of bullet-fast strikes, Knuckles going straight for the knock-out.
Infinite spectated from above, looking amused by their struggle.

"This is Gadget speaking. Who's this and what's the trouble?" Rookie said into his communicator.
