Then Shadowstar noticed his son attacking an apprentice and rushed over.

She sighed, padding back in her den. She thought that she should rest more, get some stretching done.

(Sparrowpaw is attacking, Swiftpaw is trying to stop him)
Featherpaw falls. Her left eye is bleeding.

(Yes, but what Shadowstar saw was Longfur on top of an apprentice.)
Shadowstar races over and hisses, "Longfur! What are you doing?"
Longfur gets up slowly, calmly,and says, "Featherpaw wishes to be my apprentice,and I believe she will do well as a medicine cat. Her brother here attacked her when she told him, so I stepped in and stopped him from blinding her. Now, with your blessing, I will take her as my apprentice."

"Do you really want to be a Medicine Cat?" Sparrowpaw growled.
"Hey Sparrowpaw, leave her alone, you injured her eye. She won't be able to see with that again." Swiftpaw said.
"Good." Sparrowpaw hissed. "Now she has to be a Medicine Cat. She can't become a useful warrior like that."

Shadowstar said, "Actually, I knew a ThunderClan cat that lost an eye as an apprentice. She was still able to become a warrior. IT's less of a handicap than you think.
At that moment, Longfur was checking Featherpaw's eye, and said, "She'll just have a scar. Her eye is still there."

"Really?" Sparrowpaw hissed. "ThunderClan. They are too proud for their own good. Why don't we just drive them off?"
"Sparrowpaw..." Swiftpaw began. "Why-"
"Featherpaw!" An tortoishell-and-white she-cat began running towards the incident's direction.
"Lilypetal..." Featherpaw quietly mewed. A brown tabby followed Lilypetal.
"Sparrowpaw attacked Featherpaw after it was announced she would become a Medicine Cat Apprentice!" Swiftpaw said.
"Hawkspeckle..." Lilypetal asked. "What should we do about this?"
"What should we do?" Hawkspeckle angrily meowed. "Make Sparrowpaw serve Longfur! Maybe he will appreciate Featherpaw then!"

Shadowstar sighed.
"It's lucky that Sparrowpaw didn't blind his sister. Very lucky. And while I hate to act like one of my predecessors, I would have blinded him in the same way," Shadowstar mewed
Longfur added, "And Sparrowpaw will not be made to serve me. That is not the path StarClan have laid before his paws."
Shadowstar turns to Sparrowpaw, and hisses, "That same predecessor tried to drive out ThunderClan. It got him blinded and captured. Besides, we have a greater threat just beyond our territory."
(Ah, yes. A litter of three kits, with two males and a female. The female is almost too gentle for her own good, one of the times bit too aggressive, and the other trying to calm his brother. This is hitting really close to home with Shadowstar, as that was his story early on. He was the aggressive one. His own sister fell by his claws.)

Hawkspeckle glared at Sparrowpaw. "Why did you attack your sister?"
"Because the only way a cat can be useful is fighting." Sparrowpaw growled.
"And what happens during battles?" Lilypetal asked.
"Fighting." Sparrowpaw replied.
"And after that?"
"Victory."
"Not that." Hawkspeckle meowed.
"Wounds." Swiftpaw mewed. "Medicine Cats treat the wounds warriors have. You should be grateful. Featherpaw might save your life."
"The only reason cats get wounds is because they are weak!" Sparrowpaw hissed at Swiftpaw. "I'm NOT weak!"

Longfur said, "Does that mean Terror is weak? The cat that was only ever bested by our leader before this?"
