I run closer and find some branches on the ground. Picking a few of them up, I use them to help fiddle the mechanisms.

You distract the Zolnixi, but he soon returns and continues chasing the luffox. Do you help the nixi or the luff?

1) You are VERY close to force playing. It's not as bad as saying that you found something when I never mentioned it, but you are still very close to force playing, where you make your own story. This is how I would've prefered you word it:
I run closer and try to find some branches on the ground. If I find some, I use them to help fiddle the mechanisms.
2) Narrating: You don't find any branches, but part of the trap has a metal rod sticking out. What do you do?
