"Laelia?" Kakkab's voice echoed out into the growing darkness, his tail flicking. "Laelia?" His ears were pricked, and his breath was heavy.

Two glowing, bright amber eyes shone through the foliage as a sleek, patterned cat slunk out. Her lips were parted into a smile.

"Hello, Kakkab."

"Laelia! There you are!" Kakkab smiled, tail wagging. "Thunderback told me to come see you."

Laelia purred, sitting down and curled her tail around her paws. "It's nice that you visited me. It's becoming dark, you realize. You don't want to be out long. It's when the largest creatures exit their dens. They stomp around the forest, trying to seek out other creatures that are up."

Kakkab blinked, sitting down next to her. "Really?" He felt awkward next to the lithe female. He was large for an adolescent, even more from Thunderback's meal times, and diet.

"Yes." Laelia replied, dipping her head. "My sister, Odorari, once couldn't sleep. She went out to hunt, and she found a creature. It was small, but a brown colour. It had fangs, like me and you, and Odorari. It was like a small jaguar cub, but it had rings marking it's tail."

"A jaguar cub!?" Kakkab yelped, jumping up. "They're so small! How could a monster be that small, Laelia!?"

Laelia laughed, standing up. "Well, you see," She started walking. "Odorari saw it snatch up a crocodile's eggs, and lived!"

Kakkab walked after her, feeling nervous now. "Uh, Laelia? Is there a reason why some creatures come out at night? Is there a story behind it?"

Laelia chuckled, glancing back at the stocky wolf. "Of course." She leaped onto a branch, lying down on it. "Are you ready to listen, lad? It's a good one.

Long, long ago, when Sababi wasnt among the stars, he lived here. This was when all creatures were awake during the day, and slept in the night. You see, the creatures feared the night, and by sleeping, they would not have to live through the darkness.

She chuckled, tail flicking. However, several animals were curious. They were not scared of nighttime, and they wondered what happened during this time, while they slept. So, they stayed up a bit longer when night came. A first, it was few seconds, an hour, until they stayed up the entire night.

When Sababi heard of this, he grew angry. He found the creatures, and blinded them. Now, they could only live during night. Be careful, Kakkab. Sababi doesnt like fools.

Okay!! A little past the deadline, but I was very busy yesterday and today!

Bit late, but this round has ended and am doing the judging now.
