You can ping people two ways. One is before writing your message, click the blue @ located at the bottom corner of any message posted by the person who you want to ping, then you just write your message normally. The second way is to do a "New Reply" and type in the name(s) of the person(s) you want to ping in the "Ping Users" box above all the blue boxes. Sorry if this isn't very clear if you don't understand you can go to the Q&A (Newbie Friendly) Forum and ask there, they'll probably give better answers.
