The petrified boy heaved a heavy and shaky sigh of relief, "Yeah. Totally." The boy let go of the homeless nerdy hobo man's arm. "We'll be fine, yeah."

"Yeah, totally," he echoed in an attempt to comfort himself. It didn't work, and he took in another deep breath. "We have to find the source of the noise... okay, where is it coming from anyway?"

"Jump." A gravelly voice commanded from the room across the hall.

"What? No! Are you crazy?!" Gail's familiar voice retorted.

"Pu**y." The voice hissed in challenge.

"Like you're any--" Gail's response was cut off by a short lived scream and another heavy thud.

"I'm hearing voices." Lucas muttered. His voice cracked like he was still a teenager in puberty, though he hardly seemed to care. "Is it just me or does one of them sound like Gail? Great! I'm going insane!"

Ben shifted his weight, "I hear it too. H-haha-- okay for real I'm scared as hell and would like to go back downstairs and hide in the safety of my room and try to forget the events of last night and this morning by numbing every last brain cell with offensive and random memes."

"Where's the scary-midget-chick when you need her?" Lucas asked, just as scared, though his voice nearly wasn't as shaky ad Ben's. "And believe me I've tried memes work but to some extent they just can't help anymore dude." He took a step towards the door.

"Damn dude that's really deep you should write a book. If we die I want to be buried in my middle finger hoodie and my epi pen given to Value Village or something." Ben said, wielding one of his crocodile crocs like a weapon in case things went sour.

"Okay if and when we both die, make sure you reincarnation has a better sense of style," Lucas said, as if he hadn't been wearing the same clothes for a week a few days ago. Then his voice dropped back to it's monotonous state. "The color of those Crocs makes me want to gouge my eyes out."

Before waiting for Ben's reply, he willed himself to open the door, and then in one quick don't-think-about-it motion, he turned the handle and pulled.

Ben chuckled nervously, "Yeah, *color* isn't really my thing either."

The door swung open t reveal one of the many training rooms in the Watchtower. On the floor Gail lay on her stomach, sprawled out in an awkward heap. She was still wearing most of her Hawk armor and those wings. Feathers floated and drifted lightly in the stale air of the almost completely unused room.

"Where's the other person?" Lucas asked, his eyes warily fixed on Gail after adjusting to the lighting in the room. "I heard two voices." No, the first things he asked were not 'Hey, I heard bodies hitting the floor. You good?', although he now realized that may have been a good start if he wanted to get along with the team.
