"Mine abandoned me when I was twelve. They left, and never came back. They were with the people in the mountain." I say, folding my wings neatly on my back once again, and stand up.

"It's just been me and the animals until today, I never thought I'd run into someone else. I gave up lookign a long time ago."

"I've been alone here for four years." I say, picking a piece of grass out of my hair as I speak, and untie my small ponytail, retying it again soon after.

"Only four, lucky you. It was worse for me." She was joking, but there was a hint of bitterness in her tone. She eased her feet back into the water.

"Ah, but were you in extreme pain for the whole time with no one to take care of you?" I ask, as I sit on the grass and start fiddling with individual strands of it, remembering the feeling of the blood dripping down my arms. I get the incessant urge to wash my hands, and move to do so, but realize that I shouldn't, as my knuckles are still incapacitated on one side. I end up sitting at the edge of the pool, staring into the water thoughtfully.

"What happened?" She asked. "The pain? What was it from?"

"I fell," I say, gesturing to my wings. Their blackness doesn't shine in the light, it seems to absorb it. I look at her, my red eyes glinting in the bright light.

"Right, you're a fallen angel." She remembered what he said earlier.

"Mhm." I say, staring off into space, lost in the awful memories of that day.

"Anyway..." she continued. "This is waterfall I told you about. I live here, you were right- the stream leads to the connecting river."
