I totally understand everyone's thoughts on this, and I see how a cap on submissions is unfair. However, that was only a suggestion, and I think the overall point should not be that players should be limited in their submissions and theme picks but that player names should be taken into account a bit when there are multiple good submissions. It's not a matter of limiting amazing designers, but just prioritizing others who aren't picked as often ONLY when there are multiple submissions being considered. Especially instead of doing stuff like species swapping when there are great designs for the species.
I admire and respect all designs and designers that are chosen and that is not what this conversation is about. It is about uplifting newer designers as well as those who are picked often. I understand the feelings about submission caps but why would just prioritizing others when a designer already has been picked a bunch be an issue? You only get two 2-Visible Winter Festival Themed Pets max for having a theme selected anyhow. I don't want people to feel limited or anything at all but I think a small amount of consideration of player names could be possible.
I hope this makes sense, and again, I think it is amazing when people get picked multiple times and I have absolutely nothing against any of you! You did amazing! I just think it is still valid to want others to have a chance as well. I do understand the issues with limited picks now and I was not aware this was a conversation that had been had already, but I am not trying to cause any drama or anything. I still feel this is a valid conversation to have.

I really agree with FierePepr on this one! Even as someone who's never had a theme selected, I feel it would be unfair to give ANYONE an inherent advantage or disadvantage in the contests. Still, I respect everybody's opinion here! Kudos to all!

@Savynn, thank you for the link, it's handy to be able to actually see Krin and Fai's stances on the matter (and it being from 2014 explains why I never knew a like topic had been brought up before, since I wasn't even here in september of 2014.)
@Xavion, 'Banning someone from participating'? No, absolutely not. A 'yearly limit' was only one of several suggestions we pondered on- the majority of the ideas wouldn't ban anyone from participating at all- and the downside of the 'yearly cap' has already been expressed and acknowledged in further posts,
The 'banning people'/cap of one design per year thing does seem to be the gist of the thread Savynn linked, though and like, geez, hard no on that thread's idea from us. One design per year yeesh that's an excessively extreme one. Given the input thus far, if a cap was added I'd lean towards 'a cap of 2-3 designs per person per design contest' (Definitely not anything like 'this person has had a design chosen this year they can't submit any any more'- even our 'yearly limit' suggestion was 'maybe 6 per year'. A limit of only one, max? Oof ouch, that'd put a severe damper on the excitement of theme designing, for us at least, never mind that it'd mean there'd need to be something like 160 separate good designers per year who would need to hit Krin and Fai's 'Yeah! That design' buttons)
So, cap per contest could perhaps work, but a yearly cap is a definite no, that has been laid out pretty concisely at this point I think
@Jemadar ah man, you weren't here back in 2015, you would have liked the 2015 summer and spring fests where they gave an aquatic animal/ flower + sylesti species prompt for the themes- maybe for the next spring design thread you could ask people chat to give you something like that?
(also I have noted that I tend to say 'fest' when for the most part we mean 'fest design contest', save that one 'maybe this?' scenario that we have in the first post, I'll have to watch myself to catch those)

Ah, did not know about that thread and Krin/Fai's replies on it. I did get some things wrong about the contest aspect, but I still stand by most of what I originally said - especially the part about the admins having to design their own and take their attentions away from other site updates if their options are limited.

I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean, really? because the suggestion seems to favor giving certain people an advantage.
