We are just trying to find ideas to help the max stat market not go downhil with the open and free breeding of max stat pets that is happening and devaluing the market.

I think i confused everyone lmao, happens when i'm trying to English half tired.
But yeah, I'm trying to find a solution for for the 'breeding fertile max stats' issue.
The idea is similar to what you wrote, but I think, possibly, maybe could do a situation where, said pets have to meet a certain number of requirements, as well as the original owner has to as well, before they could be inferted.

Ahh, thanks for the insight, Sea.
*has to check list of previous names*
Yup, Sea. I remembered your name change!! :D
Sadly... I don't really think there is some enforceable way to do anything about this...
I have the same concerns. With the risk of stats pets becoming cheap with breedable ones set for cheap and stats pets soon becoming everywhere for next-to-no investment thanks to people who lack the foresight and/or care to give a (Xav needs to take a breath and calm down), it's a nightmare dystopia where literally no pet has any value whatsoever. Like how 6V pets have gone from rare and glorious to cheap trash. Same with a lot of themed pets... Only real difference is the level of investment that goes into stats pets - investment which most of us care enough to protect.
But...
There's no way to force that on others. Even if a player could go back and fix that kind of mistake, the question remains of would they even care to? If they want to take actions that will destroy the whole market... Well... sadly there's no way to stop it.
I suppose it's possible to convince someone after the fact that what they're doing is dropping a nuclear bomb on the already struggling pet economy... And... well, they'd have no way to go back and fix that mistake...
Is... that what sparked this??

Kind of, the topic was brought up in region chat and I came and caught tail ends, and it seems to be making some of my good friends want to quit and such, and that makes me sad :(

I'm... pretty much borderline on the list of "might leave?" myself, actually.
Prestige stats announcement had me so spooked I stopped breeding pets for a couple of weeks - and I've never done that in all'of six years I've been here breeding pet projects. Maybe a day or two if I just don't have the time, but willingly not breeding? Yeah... I was questioning the whole point.
Krin shelved it at least, and I had a long PM conversation with him about it all so I recovered from that. Still apprehensive, but... functioning.
This new thing goin' around with "stats pets should be fertile and cheap :D" though...
Well. I'd already spent two weeks grieving my role here with the Prestige Stats thing, so I'm emotionally prepared if things do fall apart. Probably just turn into one of those "ghost" players. Check messages every now and then, maybe? Not sure I'd even do that much... Might just pop on to test new character avatars but I'm sure I can find that somewhere else. I won't leave unless/until the market crumbles, though, so I'm hoping this will be a slow death that takes a while to fully kick in so I can stick around a little longer. But, ah... I don't have much hope for it.
When it comes to a point that I can't get my investment back on a tedious, expensive, 1-2 years or longer project, I'm not going to do projects; I'll spend my time and effort on something that's actually productive rather than throwing it all into a void that was once a star. The site has two things, really. Projects, and grinding for stuff. I don't care for the stuff enough to do the grinding. If I want grinding, there's hundreds, no, thousands of games to do that on. Not what I'm here for.
No projects, no point, no Xav.
Hate to add more to your worries there, Baney. But I'd be lying if I said anything different. *pats*

I'd miss you if you left though, writing contests are fun with you and such.
Is there no other way to keep in contact with you? :(
And as well as, admittedly, I'm not as active as usual, except for the first few days of fests and some projects or keeping with friends, but its my friends that keeps me here.
Anyways, though, what bugs me is how some players want things cheap, now I know it'd be hard to enforce things, but it still isn't really fair when you put so much work into your pets.

I have to be honest. If I bought a pet that was fertile, even if I had no plans to breed it at all, and suddenly it was made infertile by the original owner, whether or not I bought it from that person, I would be furious. I dislike the idea that changes can be made to a pet I own without my consent.
As for the breeding problem, I have to say that is a problem on any site that allows breeding. Pets over time will be devalued, period, because there is simply no way to get everyone on board with things like making max stats infertile etc..
Everyone has different playstyles. I loved the idea of prestige, because I dislike having to constantly change my teams and would love to be able to use my original team as efficiently as a max stat team. Other players like having one team for each species of pet.
it can be hard to try to balance all the different play styles and I appreciate Krin is trying to. However, I do not believe that introducing mechanics that would allow a player to 'change their mind' and alter something about a pet that they sold would be a good change. I could see it driving away players who find their pets altered without their consent. I could also see it setting a dangerous precedent on who actually owns a pet.

See, people seem to be misunderstanding Baney and this thread.
We're just trying to see what ideas people have that could help.
And I think Baney was half asleep lol

Okay, I thought it was mainly about being able original owners being able to change the pet.
As for the problem, truthfully, I don't think there is much that can be done to 'fix' it without drastically changing things, either on the breeding end or enforcing specific pricing for pets, which I don't support.
I put this in another thread, but I think that perhaps in the future, to have valuable pets, there could be certain themed pets that can give advantages, but cannot be bred.
IE, you would have a qitari that when you have one in your stables, would increase the chances of finding a themed qitari in your encounters (but only like a 1% increase or so, nothing drastic).
These would be obtained in a variety of ways and perhaps some could only be bred for (not randomly, but if you bred certain themes or you bred max stat or six visible of certain themes there could be a chance to obtain these special pets).
I saw this on a horse breeding site, where you could collect special horses, and while I didn't like the site, I liked the idea of special pets obtainable in a variety of ways that could give small advantages.
They couldn't be mass produced because they were infertile, so couldn't be bred, and for the ones that are produced by breeding, the chances could be very small to produce one.
