Sort of depends- if we do a mermaid RP I'll probably use some sort of 'evil' version of mermaids that're more animalistic, since I actually have a species that would work with that.

So one thing I would say is that each dog only has one/2 thing changed on them and it is something small-

Longer fur, bigger teeth/claws, glowing eyes, things like that.

Like... scientists created mermaids to expand the reaches of the human race, and there was a bunch of failed experiments that ended up something as monsters that reproduced and created more of the mermonsters. Eventually the mermonsters rose up and attacked the ocean facility so now the mermaids have to get help/escape/fight the monsters maybe?

That might be cool, but it might also be fun to have the anti-mermaids already there, and maybe they were what the experiments were based around, being more deadly? The anti-mermaid creatures wouldn't be bad, necessarily- they'd really just look scarier.
