I think you're missing what I'm saying. Yes, level matters to a certain degree, but if you're purely going by level and gear then you don't really have a grasp of how complicated Sylestia's battle system is. A level 25 tamed pet has a health of 423(110+ 25 levels worth of health) and 35-37(10-12+ 25 for level) in each base stat. A max stat pet at level 25 would have 2847 health (2000+ 25 levels worth of health) and 125 (100+ 25 for level) in each base stat. That is before gear of any sort.
For a comparison, here are two of my pets at level 25. One is a tamed themed from a festival zone and the other is a max stat Griffi used for point grinding. I've removed their gear for comparison's sake and both have a single point in the fire element for intelligence.
Tamed
Max Stat
Do you see the difference? Max stats tear through your standard pets and they're not even the most powerful pets in the game. There are now super stat pets that are even more powerful then max stat pets. Sylestia's battle system is currently still evolving now that proficiency has been changed and with the addition of wild stats. Until it's been more leveled out I believe it would be incredibly difficult to balance out PVP with the current system.

That's why you would see the stats of your opponent before you decide to battle them. The idea is there would be a list of players available to battle. If you click on their name, you view their pets, their stats and their gear. This would show up before you fight them. If you choose to battle someone with max-stat pets after viewing them, even if you are at a disadvantage, then that's your own choice.

eh. couldbe intresting but prob won't work at all. as everyone else said, stat/gear/rank differences make it unbalanced.
also, there is pretty much zero strategy involved in sylestia fighting.

I'd be interested in this. I was about to suggest this as well. I would love for PvP to be added.

I like this idea, but I think that there could be different "rooms", each with a different difficulty level, so the newer players could go in the easier room(s), and the more experienced players could go in a harder room
