While robotic parts were common for people who had lost limbs. Having an AI implanted was mostly illegal unless the person had some sort of mental illness or brain damage which made it so they couldn't live properly. Even then you'd have to sign tons of contracts and stuff.
Although there were other, less legal, places you could get AI implants
Anyway, Yes, Your Character is Accepted

Personality: Wants to take care of everyone, protective, can come off as mean or cold, acts like the parent or the coach, blunt, doesnt sugarcoat the truth, hates talking about herself
Skills: Expert with firearms, knows survival skills, mature, AideBot helps her
Backstory: As a very young girl, Mariko got sick a lot, and her limbs were starting to fail. She qualified for an Aide program which gave kids in need surgeries, and she got mechanical lines down her limbs and around her torso, where all of them end up along her back going upper neck, connected to her brain. They help her move, in place of nerves, and her suit and her AideBot help her if she needs it. The device gets energy from food she eats. She ended up becoming a serious fighter, literally and metaphorically, as if to make up for it all.
Familiar: I will post an AideBot picture. The head closes, and the wheels can retract and then it can fly. It has a scanner, and is intended to be something kids can lean on. Mariko gave hers a small gun attached to the side of the camera, and hers isnt as clean. Mariko is VERY protective of her AideBot.
