The offspring will be available to purchase at any time, so will be here whenever you want to buy them. I have unlimited offspring from them. The offspring also will not be breedable with each other, as they will all be related.
As to price, yes they are pricy, reflecting the fact that they are custom designed pets, rather than random bred like most cheap pets. There are guides to making money that might help, such as:

There's no rush. The pets will still be available while you earn the gold to buy them.
