She wondered if anyone would be a Kisaro descendant in this town. "Nice to meet you."

She melts all of the ice and snow around her house, leaving only a bit of singed grass.

Winter was always my least favourite time of the year. Not only did it render my abilities practically useless, but the cold always left my body stiff and aching. Not to mention the often accompanying illness that left me out of work for a few days.

What a miserable-looking place, I remarked internally. Everything was covered by a sheet of white, leaving the houses bland and featureless. No matter. As long as I can find somewhere to stay, the appearance does not matter to me.

I kept my arms firmly crossed over my body as I trudged through the snow, my boots leaving indents with every crunch. I had managed to procure a large overcoat that was somewhat too long for my body - a parting gift from those who had hired me - it's form exaggerating my smaller stature.

I look like a child in their parents' clothing. This garb is insulting. Though it is the only thing between me and freezing to death. Glancing around, I could not see anyone. I was more concerned that I would see some relatives of Kisaro stalking the streets, melting the thick blockades of ice that hung from every roof.

With any luck, I'll rest here and move on without any interaction. I don't need a reason to stay here any longer than I need to.

"Stop your whining." The girl said as she took another sip of the hot tea. "I know your tired but I don't need to hear about it every ten minutes!" She laughed some as she looked back at her partner whom was nearly walking while he was asleep. They had been walking through town when she had spotted an old Kisaro tea stand. Of course she had to have a cup but Nabba refused as he was just ready to get inside the inn for a nap. Yawning he simply glared at her. "Fine we can go to the inn next."

Kydris Roy

I wound this way and that through the seemingly endless identical streets. The wind had begun to pick up a little, and my breath was coming out of my mouth in clouds of fog.

How am I supposed to find this place when everything looks the same? My eyes darted around the landscape, trying to find the slightest difference in each of the buildings. I cursed under my breath, finding not a single hint that anything in the area was an inn. I wonder if this place even has one. If not, I shall have to move on... and that is the last thing I want to do, even if I dislike the aura that this town radiates.

I was in luck, for once. When I turned my head to peer down one of the streets, a hulk of colour was nestled between the snow-clad forms. From a protruding plank of wood hung a sign, creaking as it swung. The outside looked run-down, to a certain extent, but perhaps my standards for inns were a little too high.

When I pushed the door open to enter, I was blasted by heat and a soft orange glow. The door practically slammed shut behind me as I stepped inside. It was fairly crowded - no doubt because they were seeking shelter and warmth to combat the numbing cold.

Shrugging off my coat and slinging it over my shoulder, I went over to the counter, and waited for the innkeeper to finish serving one of his customers.

"How can I help?" she asked. I cleared my throat before speaking.

"Do you have any available rooms?" I reached into my pocket, checking the number of coins that I had before she could respond. The woman nodded.

"Yes, indeed we do." She gestured to a piece of paper in her hand with the prices. "Which type would you like?"

"A front room, please." The cheapest, and most likely to be the draughtiest, but I don't have much money to spare. I placed my payment in her hand; she returned with a key, then told me some simple directions as to which stairs I needed to go up. I thanked her, slipping the key into my pocket.

"Is there anything else you would like?" I wasn't really in the mood for being sociable, and I wanted to sleep, but I figured that a drink wouldn't be too bad.

"Can I have a bottle of the strongest drink you have?" I enquired. She seemed a little surprised, but only slightly - indeed, I wasn't exactly the image of joy. When she came back, I poured myself a glass of it and sipped at it for a second, contemplating my journey ahead.

I've still got so much longer to travel. I sighed, feeling the heat return to my face. Only to kill this stupid giant, then I have to go all the way back again. I longed for the days of the simpler tasks, in which my payment was easy to receive and said missions could be completed in less than an hour. I exhaled slowly. Why do I even do this anymore?
