No, but it is suggested so since they evolved because of the genes. If you want it to look like a normal animal, it's fine.

Strength: she is a great climber, and swimmer. Due to the chemicals used on her she can mimic anythings call or voice. Her memory is that of an elephant and her hearing is the sharpest.
Weakness: she can't run very fast and she is a bit rude at times.

Backstory: when she escaped it wasn't without injury. She barely made it from the lab before passing out. With the hep of Cian though she lived. Now the two are inseparable.
