While in battle next to your attack options is a red arrow (what it looks like to me at least). click on it and you can use your revives and potions. Hope this helps!

Lots of potions - as many as you can afford.
Decide on a level when you will use them
You must take two turns before you can use more.
When you are getting close to running out - do not go to the next battle - you will be defeated
Let your Sylesti rest and go buy more potions for the next one.
I actually purchase diamonds and using those to change into gold - It helps me build up my gold reserve to buy more potions.

Not to be offensive or anything, but I already found out.
Also, I doubt you're onto Vorpar yet, but do you know what tree is appropriate for that mean old enemy?
