When I was a little over 2 years old when episode 3 came out and I think my grandparents would watch it and I remember that I always had dreams about lava, fire, and sometimes the classing of blue. In like 3rd grade I had a sleepover and I was at my friend's house. She even warned me that her family would watch something called Star Wars, and at the time I didn't even know what that was. That night they watched episode 6, and I remember that I was so confused at the time and now I look back on it and say 'I was so confused at the part when Luke was in Jabba the Hutt's palace thing.'
I get my love for Star Wars from my mom's parents (yes the grandparents that watched episode 3 with me. They are awesome! And no not in a sarcastic mood I mean they are literally awesome. Also a random fact about me is that all my info for horses, cats, and dogs all came from them.)
But the strange thing is that I didn't get into Star Wars/knew that I have seen seen two of the movies until December when episode 7 was about to come out. I LOVE to look back and say 'man I used to watch Star Wars before I knew what Star Wars was.' And I also love to say this 'I was practically born without a soul (if you are/were in Fandoms you would understand, trust me.) because I was born into Fandoms.'
I am just going to put this out here... I think that Rey is a Kenobi!

I was five when phantom menace came out, i remember it being a lot better than it actually is!!! (rewatching the original trilogy is a bit painful, what happened George?) That said, the prequels do fill in a lot of missing bits and create a lot of backstory. Padm deserved better though >:T
My early memories of the original trilogy are mostly the trash compactor, Luke's deft piloting over the outside of the Death Star, Hoth, Lando, Jabba, and the Ewoks bc i just love Wicket so much.
When i saw the new one, i hadn't seen a single trailer, so i really had no idea what to expect. I was so happy though, i actually saw it twice in theaters and got the DVD as soon as i could, seeing it a whole lot more. (Well, ok, i had one spoilerish but not for the story). I'm so excited about these new characters and where they're going next!
I know a lot of people complained about too many parallels to episode 4, but after the prequels and the franchise ownership transfer, i think keeping a familiar tone while introducing new characters
I had just started watching Rebels in December as well, which, after i found Ahsoka was in Clone Wars i had to start that too. Working my butt off to finish it, because my plan is to watch all the main things in chronological order, so 1, 2, CW, 3, Rebels, then Rogue One'll be out by then, heh.
Also read some of the comics, got the first Poe one the week it came out(sadly, haven't gotten another issue) and read the Princess Leia ones, oh gosh, those were so good!
Heh, my experience with fandoms has LEFT me with no soul, let's just say i've seen the dark side(pun intended) of fandoms and it's not pretty. But i think i get what you mean, like, fiction can fill a certain part of your heart and give you something that always makes you happy?
YEAH I like that theory too? Tbh i like most of the theories, the Finn Skywalker and Prince Finn ones are my faves??? I'll take whatever, to be honest, as long as Rey and Finn get a family and a happy ending, they've had hard lives so young and deserve better!!! That and they and Poe have to not die in this trilogy. Not allowed. Nope. They're really sweet and great characters, if they die idk what i'll do...
