I always see the same list of anime regardless of where I go....I'm quite tired of seeing the names of the 'Spotlighted' anime. The popular ones. SO! I'm gonna suggest some anime that are out there and lesser known but easily match up or rise above the commonly known ones. I'm just gonna nitpick at the list Homera put up for references.....

Madoka Magica - Basically a magical girl based series. Princess Tutu is also classed under this genre. Others to check out... Pretear, CardCaptor Sakura, Tokyo Mew Mew, Tiger & Bunny, C - Control, Shattered Angels, Cutie High Earth Defense Club

My Bride is a Mermaid - A comedy with a loose or barely there story but still a great series. Others to look at... Ghost Stories, Cuticle Detective Inaba, Sands of Destruction, FLCL(Fooly Cooly)

Fairy Tail - I don't even wanna go there but I will anyway... It's a series that uses the same narrative style of Naruto, Dragonball, Bleach, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokmon, Digimon, Beyblade, Sword Art Online and more that have gone on for way toooooo long. I can suggest Zoids, .Hack//Series, Sailor Moon, and give me a bit of time and I could probably find more.

Rosario + Vampire - A comedy Harem anime. Typically one guy with dozens of doting girls. I'm just gonna list these... High School of the Dead, High School DxD, Prison School, Lord Marksman and Vanadis, Asterisk War, Is This a Zombie?, Negima? Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero, Maria the Virgin Witch.

Vampire Knight - Reverse harem and vampire. Which one to do here...I'll do Otome (Reverse Harem) first. Iike both genres here and can suggest a lot but some I will mention for a musical category below... Brother's Conflict, D-Frag!, Free! Iwatobi Swim Club, Fruits Basket, Gonna Be the Twin-Tail!!, Kamisama Kiss, Ouran High School Host Club, Princess Jellyfish, Save Me! Lollipop, Tenchi Muyo, The Devil is A Part-Timer, The Wallflower, Yona of the Dawn, Amnesia

Vampire/ horror based anime(WARNING Some of these have blood and gore in them. Particularly the ones after Corpse Party which is the worse offender. PM me before looking these up if you aren't over the age of 16.)...Vampire Knight, Shiki, Black Blood Brothers, Hellsing, Trinity Blood, Diabolik Lovers, Ghost Hunt, Another, Corpse Party Tortured Souls, Deadman Wonderland, Tokyo Ghoul, Death Parade

Music based anime - Starmyu, Show By Rock, Uta Prince-Sama, Dance with Devils, Beck, K-On!, Shonen Hollywood, Full Moon wo Saga******e, Gravitation,

Red Data Girl - A romance or bonding story anime. Let's add to this shall we?... Spice and Wolf, Guilty Crown, The Sacred Blacksmith, Tokyo Ravens, Tsubasa Chronicle, Unbreakable Machine Doll, Utawarerumono, World Break, Noragami, Snow White with the Red Hair, Inari Kon Kon

Black Butler - I love this anime, but it's also being focused on way to much. You should be watching these babies... Karneval, Chrono Crusade, Durarara, Black Cat, Death Note, Full Metal Alchemist, DNAngel, Air Gear, Assasination Classroom, Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok, Black Cat, Code Breaker, Case Closed, D.Grey-Man, Danganronpa, Darker then Black, Desert Punk, Devil May Cry, Divine Gate, Dragonar Academy, Eureka Seven, K The Series, Garo, Initial D, Kaleido Star, Laughing Under the Clouds, MoonPhase, Nabari no Ou, Overlord, Prince of Stride, Rage of Bahamut, RomeoXJuliet, Samuari 7, Witch Blade, Angelic Layer, Blood+, Blood-C, Blue Exorcist, Cardfight Vanguard, Future Card Buddyfight, DOGS: Bullets and Carnage, Dragon Drive, Kyo Kara Maoh, Natsume Yuujinchou, Pandora Hearts, Shaman King, Witch Hunter Robin, Code Geass, RWBY

If you feel like hunting down some older and very understated anime, try these. Sorcerer Stabber Orphan, Nightwalker, Visions of Escaflowne, Yu Yu Hakusho

P.S. Do NOT watch Mew Mew Power. Watch Tokyo Mew Mew. Difference? Mew Mew Power is the massacred version of Tokyo Mew Mew. 41 Episodes chopped up into 24 English bits by 4kids. Ugh. Please. Just don't. Unless you are trying to hook small children into anime. Small children can watch Princess Tutu, Show by Rock, RWBY and Mew Mew Power plus any Studio Ghibli Film ever!

Let's see... Kid friendly anime? Princess Tutu, Negima, Shugo Chara, Zatch Bell... all good for a younger audiences. For an older audience, I like Deadman Wonderland, Soul Eater, Chobits, Samurai Chemploo, Gurren Lagaann, Blood+, .Hack, Moonphase, Hetalia. Those are all I watched about eight or so years ago when I was still a high-school kid. (:

Um. Hi guys. Don't mind if I join?

Inuyasha was a pretty good anime too! :D Most of it was a serious adventure anime with some action, but some of it had it's funny moments. :)

Fullmetal Alchemist (Brotherhood)!! I've read and watch a ton of manga/anime but nothing comes close to the reverence and adoration I have for FMA. The plot is just wow wow wow and I believe the action and fantasy element are very appealing to a younger audience even if the philosophical nuances aren't so appreciated. This anime has no bloated fillers, every minute of its 64 episodes was a joy to watch and it'll make you laugh and cry and root for all sorts of characters and appreciate even the baddies.

I can ramble on and on about this series but if you head over to myanimelist you'll find a ton of more eloquent reviewers singing praise about FMA and they can sell it to you better than I do haha ^^

For ongoing anime I follow: One Piece (took me a long while to try this because of my hesitation with the art style, but I took the plunge and haven't regretted one bit), Shingeki no Kyojin, Ao no Exorist, D Gray Man (which made a comeback recently) Noragami, Akatsuki no Yona to name a few.
