Just popping in to give the other side of the feeling on revealing garments on the females: for the most part I love them. When there are ones I don't like, I don't use them. While I wouldn't mind seeing some more modest options for those that want them, I would be incredibly sad to see all of the hemlines dropped and collars raised. Just putting it out there so those that do enjoy the less modest wardrobe choices are also represented.
Also, I totally support Krin's idea of a dual system. For those that have put in time, effort, not to mention money, into custom avatar items... it would be really sad for them to no longer be usable. However, given that many of those items are either helds or wings, they might be made usable in the new avatars anyway?
Finally: I think we're all agreed all around that the poses do need rethinking, but we also all know that this isn't a priority with the megazone being dropped soon and the entire site being revamped. It's good to get reference ideas out there for a new set of avatars though ^.^

So I'm gonna put my two cents in as well.
I see no issue with the actual pose of the female avi. And the argument that it is unnatural irks me and rubs me the wrong way, personally. The pose he female avi i in is actually one that I tend to catch myself in regularly. Its actually a pose that I happen to naturally put myself into as a resting position. So saying ti looks "crippled" or "unnatural" is horribly offensive. I think it is cute and feminine, and when I stand like that myself it is honestly a comfortable standing position.
As for the issue about the revealing clothing on females, I personally enjoy seeing (and sometimes using) some more revealing stuff, and I've seen a lot of people wanting it. I can see where others are coming at, but I feel like people have different personal tastes. Just because you don't like a bit of skin showing doesn't mean nobody wants their avi to sow a little skin. They are just pixels. Besides, for those worried about younger eyes seeing things they shouldn't, I've seen a lot worse at the local walmart. Besides, the majority of the "younger" crowd on the site is over 13 (or at least, supposed to be) and honestly, 13 year olds these days are a lot more ...expressive...in their clothing to begin with these days. If you don't want them exposed tot hat type of stuff, its a lot harder to do.
Also, there are a few male outfits that do show off extra skin. The herbalist outfit shows quite a bit, and the mermaid(merman?) outfits expose the ENTIRE male chest. The beachwear and beach attire as well show off the chest. Tropical Shamans Garments, Costume of the depths, and Is topped there because I don't want to list every single male outfit that reveals things.
Basically, everyone is entitled to their opinions and everyone has different tastes in clothing. I personally think Krin and fai and the artists so far are doing a great job of mixing outfits so that there is a little something for everyone.
I'm not meaning to offend anyone or anything. Those are just my opinions on the matters.

For the revealing issue... Sylestia is considered PG-13. We have never considered any outfit to be beyond PG-13 or it wouldn't be on the Site.
Additionally, there are "revealing" male outfits as well with bare chests. One must understand that males and females are not identical in terms of anatomy so males typically do not have as much to reveal - so yes, it can be perceived that there are less issues.
Also, the absolute vast majority of outfits are not revealing in the least bit. If your personal taste is to have full coverage there are hundreds of available options for that. However, please keep in mind that maybe not everyone has the same personal opinion as you and may like the more revealing outfits. Therefore, there's options for everyone's tastes.
In terms of the revamp, the avatar bases are very outdated artwork. It would be akin to the original Aurleon or Sylvorpa (male) vs their now revamped counterparts. We would take the same approach to avatars when we get there. For those who remember the original original Aurleon/Sylvorpa (male), you can see how much of an improvement we made from then until now.
