Children seem to be able to see ghosts very easily. My mum has told me of a few things my brothers and I have done that really freaked her out.
My younger brother kept complaining about an old lady he saw around the house.
I would randomly giggle and play with my "pets" mum said I called them. She also said our dog always barked when I did this.
This is something mum told me about my older brother.
Mum had a friend that lived on a farm. She used to take my brother there to play with her friend's daughter who was about the same age and the kids would always talk about their friend, Peter.
The adults thought they were playing with one of neighbours' kids and wanted to meet the kid's parents to make sure they weren't a bad influence and bla bla... so they asked them where Peter lived. Their response was "Peter's in the well." but that didn't freak them out. They figured the kids had made up an imaginary friend or something.
One day the two were playing on their tricycles, pushing them to the top of a small hill then riding them back down while my mum and her friend talked. They'd do this over and over then they came and asked if there was another trike Peter could use. Mum's friend said there was one in the shed and went back to chatting.
When they looked at the kids again they saw them pushing their trikes up the hill but also saw the other one moving up the hill by itself. Later they checked the trikes for a rope or something, thinking maybe one of the kids was dragging it behind them but there was nothing connecting them together.
The next time mum took my brother to her friend's place, her friend said she asked around and apparently the previous owner of the farm had a 10 year old son named Peter who had fallen in the well and died...
Dun, dun, DUUUUUNNNNNN!!! I didn't sleep the night mum told me this story.

I've had a few...interesting experiences myself.
So, I used to live at my grandma's house. (The basement was redone to be like a second house and all.)
When I was younger, I noticed odd things that happened around the house. Like, if I was watching T.V. and I went to go to the bathroom during a commercial break, the T.V. would turn off on its own and then switch back on. My mom knew about this too, as it would also happen to her computer when she got up to go get something to drink. And she knew that there wasn't anything wrong with the electrical wiring for our part of the house, as it was all new along with the T.V. and Computer. But we didn't think much of it.
Now, it wasn't until the age of 9 that I found out what was going on.
You see, my brother had gotten an allergic reaction to some pineapple that he ate upstairs, which is the part of the house where my grandma and step-grandpa live. I was told to run downstairs and get some socks for my brother to put on before he got taken to the hospital. So, I was downstairs, looking through a laundry basket, scared that my brother might die.
I had found a sock and I was looking for another when I heard an odd sound. It was a clink, like someone had put a marble into a glass cup. I froze, because I knew that I was the ONLY ONE DOWNSTAIRS. There was no one else that could make that sound. At first I thought it might have just been something else until I heard it happen four more times. 'Clink.....clink....clink.....clink' They had a minute spacing between them and I looked at the fireplace mantle. When I did, I saw some white figure standing in front of it. She wore a dress that looked like something my great-grandma would wear, as it looked pretty old fashioned. She wore some kind of hat that covered her face, so I couldn't see. And, to make thing even better, I could see right through her and from where her knees would be to her feet, was nothing. She was floating.
I was paralyzed with fear at this point, as I didn't understand. But I saw her holding a blue marble in her hand, which I recognized to be part of a collection of them in one of the jars on the mantle. I heard a giggle come from her and she faded away, causing the marble to drop to the floor.
At that point, I screamed and ran upstairs bawling my eyes out. I told my mom what happened and she went downstairs with me. She found one of the blue glass wine cups with five marbles in it when I told her about the clinking sound. When she got me to calm down, she told me about Mrs. Light. Apparently, she was the wife of the lead builder when my grandma was having her house built. She would always come over with lunch for the crew when it was around noon. But, one day she was killed as she was crossing the road to get over to my grandmas house. Some guy was drunk and had hit her with his car and killed her. Ever since then Mrs. Light had been around the house mostly because her husband, and my grandma agreed to let her see the finished result.

I think I've heard of Celebi112's story... but it was an old Victorian doll named Marie. Thank goodness I'm reading all of you guys' story in this bright and sunny morning! I'd probably be considering sleeping over at my friend's house if I read these at night... ;A;

Oh, right, speaking of dolls.
My friend got a porcelain doll from her aunt once. Long dark brown hair, lacy white dress, hat, the works. We laughed about how porcelain dolls were 100% of the time always haunted, and pretty much the creepiest things ever. My friend couldn't get it to stand up, so she had it leaning against the wall on her dresser (which tipped back towards the wall a little, incidentally). One night I was staying over for funsies, and we were playing Animal Crossing on the Gamecube. When we looked behind us, though, we saw that the doll was standing up of its own accord. We laughed, saying it was defs haunted for sure now. We turned back to our game, but eventually one of us turned around and saw that, against the laws of physics, the doll had actually moved a little bit towards the edge of the dresser. We kept playing our game, but as we did, the doll got closer and closer to the edge. We knew it wasn't anyone sneaking in and moving it, because we were facing the door and the doll was on the opposite side of the room from it. Eventually, after a few hours, we heard a thunk as the doll hit the floor. We got up and looked down at it, then started laughing. "Haha, you fell on the floor. You look like a real idiot now!" And then we shoved the doll in a drawer and went back to our game.
And then I found five dollars.
Also, an addendum to my first story. All the flashlights worked when we brought them back home.
Anyway, turns out all the "hauntings" I've experienced have been completely harmless. And usually actually kind of funny in retrospect.

I agree. The ones that I've been around have been more of a nuisance than scary.
My friend was kicked out of her own house so mum let her live with us for a while. I think she has a special way of bringing out the spirits in a place because things started happening her first night.
It was nothing big. Just things moving, falling, electronics turning on and off, maybe a pinch once in a while. It was a teenage girl, my friend only saw her once when I was sleeping (she snores so I claimed the lounge room as my own.)
Anyway I was asleep on a mattress behind the couch. I remember dreaming that some random chic I didn't know was touching my face. My friend woke me up by screaming, saying that there was a girl with brown hair sitting on the couch and that she was reaching over to me. Being still half asleep I just responded with "Kay..." and rolled over to fall asleep again.
She just creeped out and left to go to school. I had another dream with the girl touching my face again, she was annoying me so I just told her to bugger off. That seemed to solve the problem because nothing weird happened in front of me after that but my friend still complained about things moving and stuff.
The reason this happened is because it's the living that give spirits their power. I payed no real attention to the ghost so she stopped bothering me and focused on my friend who is very easy to scare.

This really happened to me.
A little bit about me. I truly am a spirit medium. I can see, hear, communicate with ghosts/spirits, demons, and other paranormal entities. I have 3 spirits that follow me.
I was at my fiance house and he had gone to the store to get dinner. He lives in a nice little house that has an attic and basement and it's haunted. Though none of the spirits want to talk. I was sitting in the living room with his dog laying next to me. I was watching some really boring show. I start to hear foot steps in the attic. The dog looks at me like oh crap and proceeds to be a baby and hide under the couch. I grabbed some lavender and sage (which I always keep with me) and open the attic door. I was hit by a cold blast of air. I started up the steps. I made it to the top of the steps when I saw an mans face. I was not expecting that. I start to do my routine of you're dead and need to move on. As I'm talking the face twists in anger and then pushes me down the stairs. As I land at the bottom the door slams shut. I then hear steps on the basement steps and feel a calming sense. The attic door opens a bit and then closes. I then here what sounds like things being thrown. Then the attic door opens and the sense of calm passes by me and I hear "I'm sorry" and then steps going down the basement steps. I now will not step foot in the attic.
It is the most violent encounter I have had so far. Usually the won't touch me.

I will say this here and now: I don't believe in ghosts, spirits, or the existence of anything paranormal. That doesn't mean creepy stuff doesn't happen to me - it does. I just don't attribute it to anything outside the realm of reality as I experience it. Herein are three creeptacular things that have happened to me - believe whatever you like about the causes.
1) When I was really, really little, my mother received a porcelain clown lamp from a relative. It's not particularly creepy unless you hate clowns. Or it hides in your closet. For years, I wouldn't go into my closet for anything, because I could feel that creepy thing watching me. Eventually, I closed myself in the closet to get over the fear. Terrible plan, since I'm afraid of the dark. The thing is... When I entered the closet, the lamp was facing away from the door. When I left? It was watching me. It had somehow turned around. It still lives in that closet, and I don't go in there anymore.

2) Teddy Ruxbin. Two words that strike more terror into my heart than any Furby or Missingno. We had one of these awful vocal teddy bears when I was little, and from the first wavering notes of the theme song coming through his articulated snout, I was in hate. I despised it. I knew it would be a terrible thing to own, and I wasn't wrong.
At the time, I shared a room with my little sister, who was a creepy kid in and of herself. She reveled in leaving Teddy at the foot of her bed. Facing me. Staring at me with his unblinking (unless he was on) eyes, all. Night. Long. Finally, the batteries started to die, and the tape in his back started sounding distorted. There was a volume switch there, and it was often turned off when we shut him off. One night, I woke to hear the unmistakable mechanical hum of the beast's eyes and mouth moving. It was facing me, blinking and opening and closing its jaw, but no sound was coming out. And then the sound.
Teddy lives in the basement with creepy-horse, now.

3) Creepy Horse was a bouncy-horse my family picked up at one of my older sisters' friend's houses. It was awesome at first - it was big enough for horse-obsessed 10-year-old me to ride for hours, and it even made galloping sounds and whinnies if you turned it on. Remember Teddy Ruxbin? Yeah. There's a reason he shares basement space with Creepy Horse.
See, one night, everyone was asleep, and this... clunking sound came up from the basement where we stored our outdoor things to protect them from the wet. It was a consistent sound - clunk clunk CLUNK clunkclunkclunk clunkclunkclunk clunkclunkclunk BROIOIOING! clunkclunkclunk clunkclunkclunk BROIOIOING! - over and over again. It took several hours of sweaty palms and "What is that?!" from everyone in the family before everyone decided someone would have to go check.
Despite my perpetual terror of the basement, I was selected to go and see what that hideous racket was.
Creepy horse was sitting in the corner nearest the bulkhead doors, perfectly still, and perfectly sinister. I mustered the courage to check the power switch.
It was off.
Needless to say, I rocketed up the stairs, gibbering like a crazed baboon. My parents didn't believe me, so my dad went down to check. He came up pale-faced with clenched fists. The noises had stopped.
"She wasn't lying." He said. "The switch was off. I had to take the batteries out."
Downstairs, something went "clunk".

Those are nice bedtime stories, heh.
First of all I am not afraid or scared of ghosts, but I definetely have something for the Grim Reaper. Now, I do, kind of, like him, and I am frightened by him.
Everytime we went to a village near the city we lived, I was really happy because of all the fresh air and things you could do. But I kind of disliked the fact that the street our house is on is right in front the graveyard. And the meadow was right behind the graveyard. And I have this dog that I have to take on walks. So normally, I take my dog on walks 2 times per day, one in the morning, and one in the afternoon, before the sun sets.
But there was this day that I kind of "overnap'd" (naping for me means 1-2 hours of undisturbed sleep. Apparently, I've slept for 3 hours). And it was near sunset. So I just jumped off bed and straightforward, in my PJs, went to walk the dog. It was already sunset when we had finished half of our stroll. I didn't even bring a torch with me.
So it was early evening ( not that dark ) when we finished our stroll and we had to pass by the graveyard. Boy was I frightened and was shiverring.
When I passed by, I heard some singing, but spotted this rather large black figure. I quickly rushed home, the dog right behind me ( she though we were playing ). Since then I was walking my dog with at least one friend.
Apparently, one day, this particular friend named Victoria asked me "Why are you so afraid to take your dog for walks". When I told her my experience, she was laughing all over the floor and told me about this interesting ( well not interesting, but rather ... crazy person) that kept going to the graveyard in the evening, sang at the graves and petting them? I was just with wide-opened eyes sitting. True, it's still frightening that it's a crazy man, but less scary than thinking it's the Grim Reaper.
That's the spookiest story I can get out of my head atm. Well, not so "paranormal"and bla-bla-bla, but if you were experiencing it first-hand, you'd consider it scary if you knew all the details that I didn't include. :D

Wow. That's a lot of scary, and funny stories. Now time for mine.
I was at my house, when I got a call from my friend next door, who plays on this website. She asked if I wanted to come over and play outside. Usual thing that happens, she calls, I come over (or she comes over) and we play. So I went over to her backyard. I walked out of my house, walked about 20 feet over to the wall to get into her backyard. We do this whistle thing like a call and response to see if we are outside. So, she has a gate on the side and so she let me in, and she has horse pets all lined up there, when you walk in the gate you see the goat pen, then next to it is all the horses, then her chicken pet and shed and some other stuff and we walk on the side which is like a dirt really tiny path. Anyways, we walked on the path, all the way to the chicken pen, and down the tiny steep thing down (which is all the way from the goats) and around into the shed. Now remember that it was about 6-ish PM maybe, it was like dusk time and so we did chores and everything, then went into the shed and talked for like 10 minutes maybe. We were at the doors of the shed (It's a tiny shed) facing the horse arena. While we were talking, I saw something drive up in the arena. It looked like a really old police car and I was freaked out. The police-man spirit inside of it looked to me (the left-side front-window was open) and waved, then drove towards the wall and faded away. I then asked my friend if she saw it, and she said yes (like 2 years later she said she was lying...meh :P). I was so freaked out that we stayed in the shed for like 30 more minutes until I decided to go home. I told my mom the story, and she talked with my friends mom. She found out that my friends mom's father. My mother can interact with spirits, she can sometimes see them, but can talk with them in her head and through other things. She also found out that her father wasn't a cop, but a sales corporate person instead. We think that he came back as a cop so I felt safer than just a random sales corporate dude staring at me.
I also have another story, but it was an interaction that happened to my mom. To start it out, she was little maybe like 9 or something. The phone lines in my (my) Aunt Mickie's area were out, so nobody could get calls from other people or call anybody from any cell phone in the area. So (my mom's) Uncle Jim had just had a heart attack and died, and my grandma, grandpa, and I think someone else was trying to contact Aunt Mickie, but it wouldn't go through since the phone lines were down. My mom tried to call her, and she got the call and answered. All the family members calling were all shocked when she got through to Auntie. Aunt Mickie was still in the area with no cell service. My mother believes that she got through to Mickie because of (my mom's) Uncle Jim, since he had just died, he wanted to have someone maybe particular to get through to Mickie and tell her he had died.
One last quick thing, my step-dad works as a person who takes pictures of cars and he also goes to truck races like Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, and he goes to nearby races and takes photos for them. 2 of the photos he ever took of them had spirit orbs in them, the first we found out was one and it was just an orange colored round-looking orb, which in fact was not photo-shopped in, my dad didn't notice when he was taking the photo because he has to take so many, but when he went through the pictures to find ones he wanted to take and edit, he found that one. The next one, same thing, he didn't notice, and when he was looking through, this time it was somewhat a little bigger, with a face. Not a clear face, but it had grey-ish lines which made a mouth, 2 eyes, and a faded barely-notice-able nose.
There is one more story based around Uncle Jim, but this is already so long, so I am not going to write about it :)
Hopefully you liked it!
