is it possable that the breakin and the db issures are related?

Not essentially. However, the issues that we've been having with our backup service may coincide. A large portion of our daily backups have been failing due to the agent being busy. The only issues is... no action on the surface is visible to indicate that the agent is busy. Our Host and I have exhausted all ideas and we are still waiting to hear back from our backup service to investigate.

So it's possible those two are related.

However, the global DB issues began happening long before this infiltration.

I would imagine with almost 100% certainty that it's just a random attack. Since the day Sylestia existed, it's pelted daily with hundreds of invasion attempts. By now... the count is probably in the hundredths of thousands of attempts.

Just hackers across the world set up bots to just try and brute force into any server on the internet. It's nothing personal and in almost every case I doubt the "hacker" even actually visits the website or even knows that our specific website was targeted. It's probably just all automatic with the single goal of extracting people's personal, specifically financial, information.

But like I said, we don't store any of that. So there isn't too much reason to be concerned. It's just an annoyance on our end having to deal with and mitigate the issue.

I've changed my email password so many times that i made a super long one that i use only for it, heh. I usually end up putting in two wrong ones before i get to the right one...i think that's secure!

Ooo, can't wait to see the pet updates!

As usual, thanks for all your hard work, and as usual, please remember to get plenty of rest and take care of yourself! I'll be here if the site's up or down, and i know i'm not the only one!

There will always be people out there doing things just to hurt others. Thanks for the warning.

We have, but there's no knowing what they've done to the server during the time that they have had access.
