I googled "virtual pets game beta stage" and found this among the first page results. It was important to me to find a new game that wasn't very well known yet. I wanted to be included in some early phase of a game so I could someday be one of those old players who say "awww, I miss how we used to be able to _____" years from joining cause I got sick of always only hearing about things after they've been around a while and joining at a time when I was made to feel something wasn't as good as it used to be. I don't like to feel left out of things. And I like the rush of the progress of new games. So I joined immediately. :D

The reason I play so much is I've always been a collector at heart (or an organized hoarder, haha) but I never had the space, nor the money. On sylestia I can hoard all the pets I want, and they don't gather dust, and it's fairly low-maintenance to care for them. So for that reason it appeals to me. Also I needed a lighthearted hobby of some kind to keep my mind busy.

I found this site by typing "pet breeding game" on Google.

I play this game because it's fun. There is no pressure playing this game at all, unlike most MMOs where the competition is so intense.
The amazing community and the awesome moderators (Krin and Faiona) are also some factors why I'm still here. They (the moderators) login here every day, check everything on the site if there is any problem and sometimes popped up on chat. It's like there's no boundary between players and moderators in this game, where on most MMO sites, it's almost impossible to interact with the moderators. It's amazing how they maintain such consistency for almost 2 years and I really admire them for that.

I think I found Sylestia on Apex. I had an overwhelming urge to find a breeding game I could play, something that required no real life money. You get to a certain point on a game and all of a sudden you say "OH MAN. Now I need to pay?" and it sucks. Here it's pretty easy to just buy diamonds with gold, and I love that. The money was a big factor for me when I started.

The community is also awesome. When I found out Krin and Fai were common sights in the general chat it really enticed me to stick around longer. Everyone was super helpful in the chat so I learnt how to play really fast and nothing was a struggle (not to say some things weren't a challenge but just saying I had so much help that I could overcome the challenges easier).

The breeding here is great. Once you learn how it works it is super easy to memorize and understand which makes the experience a lot smoother. I love how you choose colours from a picker rather than a drop-down list. The combinations are endless.

Sylestia was/is everything I was looking for in a game.

I play on Felisfire, where I saw someone comment on another player's profile about how they love Sylestia. I wasn't even part of the conversation. >0>

I mostly play because I like being good at something. It's usually at this point when I'm when established and have friends, that I get uninterested and go to the next game. ._. But I haven't yet, so I guess that's cool?

Like Kailerie, I've played Neopets a long time--since 2001. In September of this year, Neopets shut down PetPet Park and The Habitarium. Now, I had been annoyed at a number of Neopets changes over the years, especially the "kiddifying" of the site and the increasingly cartoonish look of the pets. I think it's perfectly fine for kids to play such games, but when a site starts playing to the kids, the site organizers always get it wrong. They (the organizers) dumb content down and let quality slip, thinking it doesn't matter--it's "just" for kids. However, everybody cares about those things, not just adults. (I have been a kid; I know what it is like.)

Anyway, The Habitarium was the only thing on Neopets that worked like Sylestian Missions; one could earn on the site even when not actually playing. I had just really gotten involved in running a Habitarium when Neopets shut them all down. So I went looking for another virtual pet site.

While I looked on Apex, I actually encountered Sylestia for the first time on Virtualpetlist.com. After examining a number of such sites, I picked Sylestia over all the others because (1) the pets didn't look cartoony, (2) in the world, the pets were pets: they didn't walk upright, talk, and wear clothing, and (3) the cash economy did not rule the world's economy. I despise games where one can play for free but one can't really enjoy the site for free. Perversely, I am much more likely to spend actual cash on a site where I can fully enjoy the game without spending cash. Oh, and (4), I liked the creative aspect of breeding the pets.

And (5), the adorableness of Sylestian Hatchlings. I am so susceptible to cute.

I found this game by playing Dragcave, and there was an ad of Sylestia. The ad looked awesome so I checked it out, made an account, and it became my favorite game!

My story is similar to others, nothing special.

In my past I have played Neopets, Habbo, PetVille, Pet Society, Unicreatures and there's another game i cannot think of the name..you decorated the pets room. But I either got bored, got tried of the bad economies or just got tried of the horrible communities.

I started looking for a breeding, pet capturing game that had quality art, that was new-ish and I found Sylestia with a google search. I don't always play everyday, I do tend to be really active and then other times not so active, just enough to keep my pets feed. But I love it here, I love the events, the battling, the community and so much!
