Yeah, but I think the coding for a pet dressing up thing would be similar coding to the wardrobe and if the items are pre-coloured it might make it a bit easier for them to make them...if they like the idea and make something similar XD

Still needs unique art to fit the bodies of different sylestis, at the very least resizing of the items.

Maybe simple things like hats/clips/flowers like how they accessorize in Pokemon pearl/diamond can work, but that still means needing resources to have artists to do this.

I still think at this point the mutation system is enough as it is. x:

I meant there where things that had the option to choose the size of ( as to resize if that would be possible )
And really I think small accesories would still be cute because in my option it makes the sylestie more unique

Just to comment, adding wearable items to pets is as close to impossible as it can be for us and isn't something we really see feasible at all.

After just a little over a year, we already have 21 different species. If we were to add a simple, say top hat, to the game. We would have to have it drawn at least 42 times, if not 84 if hatchlings can wear it. The cost of this little top hat would be outrageous and the time required to implement 84 designs (and have them created) would be days and days. Now picture a year, two, or three down the road when we have 50+ species lol.

We know that some other games allow this, but it greatly hinders their ability to add new artwork down the road. It also typically reduces the amount of customization the game allows from other aspects.

We decided to go a different route and allow full customization. We decided to use avatars to allow players to dress up and wear costumes and we use genes and mutations to customize how a pet looks. Instead of wearing a piece of armor for decoration, you can pick a battle armor mutation. We feel that long term, this is a much better way of handling customization of pets and avatars.

The 'forever hatchling' option is something we haven't decided on one way or the other yet.

I understand the cost price for customizing a item for every species and gender but I also thought things that wouldn't need to be changed and could be used for every Species and gender ( I.E a medal ) would just be a cute little add on along side with the genes and mutations and you would only need to make one design for something like that

It could, but just to give an example. For the Fortune Festival, all we did was add the same gene for every species. I believe it took almost an entire week for our artists to do this and then took me about an entire day, maybe two, to implement everything into the server. In total, it was about 7-10 days just to add the same gene for every species.

And that's just a gene. No shading or lining - just coloring.

Now, on top of that, let's say we add.... 20 total items to pets that they can wear. Now we go to add another species... well, it'll need all 20 of those items added to it before we can release it - on top of everything else a new species normally requires. The time and costs really begin to add up. Totaling weeks or even months of extra work every year.

All in all, it would just be a huge hassle and a ton of extra work, time, and costs. It just isn't a viable method for what we want to do with Sylestia's pets and avatars.

Ah, well it was just a small suggestion which I thought would be cute and others might enjoy but telling me roughly how long it would take I now feel it is a bad idea on your behalf...

Don't feel like it's a bad idea. =P

I was just trying to explain how it wouldn't really work with Sylestia. For some sites, it works very well. But we went in a different direction for Sylestia's pets and avatars.

Okay, well thanks for just explaining the problems about doing it >_>

Have a good day!
