The tall nineteen year old scratched behind his pointed cat ears.
"Well, not gonna lie, I'm a little worried. Not to say that you can't defend yourself, cause you clearly can. But there's a killer on the loose, and it's not great to be wandering around alone, especially after dark. Can we walk you home?" Beckett asks, gesturing at Vance behind him. Vance huffs softly, blowing his bangs out of his face, clearly not listening to the other two at all.

"Mmmmmnah~" the child chimed, turning around and starting to skip off. That weird fire blob thing followed her, with the cinder remnants falling from the blade.

Beckett made a split second decision to follow her anyways, and Vance quickly, staying hot on his tail.
"Sorry, but I just don't feel great letting a kid wander around in the dark with a killer on the loose. This is more for me than you, I guess," he says, rubbing his neck sheepishly.
Vance sighs loudly again, putting his notebook and pen in his bag, before interlacing his fingers on the back of his neck. He walks behind the other two with this elbows spread on either side of his head, carefree as ever.

She turned her head slightly with a slight eyebrow raise, before turning back around and skipping away. The weird fire blob just disintegrated shortly after she did, and she didn't seem to notice.

"So uh... where exactly are your parents?" Beckett asks, concerned. "Are they not worried about you?" He shoots a look back at Vance, asking with a glance for help. Vance rolls his eyes and flips his bangs out of his face.

Beckett shuffles in worry, scuffing his worn shoes on the road beneath them.
"You do at least have place to stay, right?" he asks. Vance on the other hand, does not seem worried in the slightest. But, he is now paying attention. He's staring down the child quite aggressively from his position behind Beckett. His carefree and open walk is gone now, replaced with something much more serious.

"Do you want a place to stay?" Beckett asks "Because I know a place or two that could take you in for a few nights until you find somewhere more permanent" he said kindly.
"You had better not be talking about our place," Vance snaps. "Because I won't be giving up my bedroom to this supposed kid," he said, putting up air quotes at the word 'kid'.
"I wouldn't expect you to, Vance." Beckett says with a soft sigh. "If she choses to stay with us, then she can stay in my room. But, I know of a family in town that owes me a favor. She could stay there too," he continues calmly. Vance doesn't reply, he just continues glaring at the child.

The kid didn't seem to care about an offered place, as given by her expression. She rooted--actually getting it into the ground, sheesh--her blade, crossing her arms with a head tilt.
