She nods. "In a way, yes. There are two murders of crows who come to me for food." She smiles softly. "Occasionally they will trade me extra treats for a shiny coin or bottlecap."

"Oh?" he asked. "Crows are rather fickle, so that is very impressive."

She smiles. "Thank you." She tilts her head and gives the calico a little head-pat. "So what are you and your little friend's names?"

"Most who have met me simply refer to me as 'Sage'. Hers, however, simply being Carina."

She nods approvingly. "Sage. Quite a fitting name- you do seem quite down to Earth. It is also said to refer to one who is intelligent, if my memory serves me correct, though having known you for only a few moments I cannot say if that is true to you as well." She pauses for a moment, thinking. "My name is Mavaria. Mava for short. You may pronounce it like lava, or like Ava- whichever serves you best."

"Pleasure to make you an acquaintance," Sage said with a head bow. "Do you perhaps have any plans for this evening?"

Her face goes bright red. "U-um..!"


She tries to speak again, but is at a loss for words. Eventually, she just nods.

He tilted his head. "Was it something I said, madam?" he asked.

"No." She clears her throat, voice coming back to her. "No, I'm fine. I am simply not good with people sometimes- I apologize."

"I should've been more careful with my word choice, I should be the one apologizing," he countered. "Anyway, moving on from that mishap..."
