The courtyard was peaceful with barely anyone there. Perfect place to blend in and think. He had his notebook and pencil out, working on some more camouflage ideas and ways to improve things he had already done. That's when he looked up and saw his squad leader walk in and lean rather heavily on the birdbath. A soft frown graced the shy boy's face as he closed his notebook and stood, tucking it under his arm. He put the pencil on his ear. He slowly confronted Harlin. "S-sir? Is everything alright?" He regarded Nicote warily.

Derek was finally at the training grounds and he smiled lightly to himself. He pulled out his music player and turned it on. He stuck ear buds in his ears before walking out onto the bladesman course. He flicked his wrists and from his sleeves produced two deadly looking blades. He sprinted forward to take out the first dummy. His blue hair whipped in his face a little, but it didn't phase him.

Nicote's pigeon squawks. Nicote sighs as it flies to his shoulder. "I did not ask for this..."

Harlin turned around, and looked at Raph. You could tell he had to process it was him at first, and then he smiled. His smile didn't reach his eyes though.
"Oh, I was just thinking about-" He hesitated for a split second, and then looked at the gardens. "I was just thinking about how nicely the gardens looked. Girls sure know how to decorate, am I right?" He lied, covering it with one of his usual laughs. If it was one thing, he didn't like to worry people.
"You seem to be working pretty hard." He changed the subject, tapping the pencil on his ear with a grin. That was another red flag, Harlin was never one to deliberately change subjects.

The boy tilted his head slightly as he regarded his leader. As the odd one out, the one who cared not for much mingling, had taken to both hiding and observing. He knew a lot more about people than he was given credit for. Even people he hadn't ever met. He regarded Nicote again, and the pigeon pal. Then he looked back at Harlin as he changed the subject, directing it towards his work. His brow furrowed. "Yes.... I have to make sure our stealth tactics all work properly. That's a lot of work. Harlin, Sir, are you sure you're okay?"

Nicote stayed in his corner. "Obviously he isn't."

Harlin mentally realized his mistake right as he changed the subject. He'd just lied to the most observant on his team, and he really should know better than that. He sighed softly, pinching the bridge of his nose and his mouth curved into a frown as he looked at the grass.
"There's just some personal matters that have... turned up. It's just a bit hard to manage that with all my responsibilities I suppose." He said in a dull tone, and gave another sigh before looking up. It was both a blessing and a curse that Raph could see through him so easily.
"But I'm alright-will be alright."
He glanced over at Nicote and gave a third sigh. Some days he was wonderful at hiding things, and the next he was the worst liar ever. Leaders shouldn't lie either. NO matter the subject. He'd apologize after the conversation ended.

'Uh huh. You have something ooon your mind and it has to do with us being stuck here." Nicote was typing on his device while talking.
