Her eyes were closed as she sang, and his foot steps were silent, so she continued. When the song was over, she sighed and opened her eyes slowly. Spotting him, Tempest let out a surprised cry and almost fell over, righting herself at the last second. "Thrush?!"

When her song ends, I seem to throw off the strange feeling in my mind like a blanket. I stand up, and beat my wings, causing some leaves to fall out of the trees. I sit down immediately, starting to feel nauseous.
"What the H*LL happened?!" I say, curling up into a ball, my black wings surrounding my body like a shield.

"I don't know? Did I do something? I'm sorry- I was just singing and suddenly I opened my eyes and you were here with me!" She rambled, gesturing wildly with her hands.

"I was in my flipping house, and now I'm here. You're part siren. Maybe it's that?!" I ask, starting to hyperventilate. I haven't ever not been in control of my body. Just the thought of this feeling, of not being able to remember. I don't remember the last ten minutes, and that's what's making me take too much oxygen into my lungs. I freeze up, not being able to breathe for a minute.

"Oh," she replied. "That's it for sure." Her eyes widened in surprise as she saw him freeze up and she dropped down next to him, touching his face lightly with her hand. "Are you okay? You should get up!" Her voice squeaked at the end a bit with concern for him.

"Don't, touch," I whisper, starting to take deep breaths. I pull my wings tight around my body, shrinking away from her.

She jerked her hand backwards. "Sorry..." she whispered. "This is my fault."

Kiara sung a few notes using the beautiful voice she earned through the water sprite mutation. Feeling a little bored, she wandered around.

I exhale loudly, and start to breathe more regularly. Once I get my breathing back to normal, I say,
"It's not really your fault. I mean, you don't get to choose your, family." I say, ignoring the phrase that Luci used to say to me all the time, Freinds are the family you choose.

She stiffened. "That word sounds foreign to me now. Family. I lost mine when I was little- they were caught with me. Tested on, probably didn't survive. I have never seem them since."
