Ash sat down with a barely concealed groan.
The win picked up, smelling of ozone and some other weird, chemical scent. A drop of rain hit the edge of the pipe and a tiny wisp of smoke curled into the air.

She stands near Ash, watching him out of the corner of her eye. "Ash, are you hurt?" She whispers, still standing with her body facing away from him but her head tilted slightly towards him.

Ash shook his head. "No, it's the iron," he said so softly it almost couldn't be heard. A few more drops of acid rain hit the ground outside the pipe

She nods sadly. "I-I'm sorry." It came out as a guilty whimper, she finally understood.

The kitsune watches them.

He shook his head. "It's fine. You should get some rest while you can. I'm not sure when the next time will be when we can stop."

The kitsune yawns and closes his eye.

She shrugs, clearly not tired. "I'm the most awake person here. You go to sleep, I'll wake you when we should get moving." She mutters, beginning to pace as she glances around anxiously.

"I wasn't planning to sleep," he said as if nothing was wrong. "I fear I wouldn't be able to wake up."

"Both of you quit trying to be heroes and sleep!" The kistune snaps irritably. "Unlike me, you both need at least 8 hours, so just get it over with!"
