You continue down the ladder, one foot after the other. The bars seem to be getting progressively weaker and before you know it one of them shatters beneath your feet leaving you hanging on with only your hands. You're not sure how long you can hold on for...

I would choose to walk around the circumference of the tree at the distance I have chosen to stay, to see if I can pin point the muttering and whispering.
