Kaladin took a deep breath. "Well, me and Kai were out searching for breakfast, and we stumbled upon Bella-- er, a young fox kit Douglas and I are looking after-- We found her alone in the bushes. Then those wolverines showed up and surrounded us, asking where Douglas was. I told them I didn't know and they were going to attack, then Douglas showed and told me to get out of there. So I fled. I didn't want Bella getting hurt."
