Name: Kin
Gender: Genderless
Species: Shapeshifter
Background: N/A
Personality: Curious, benevolent, amiable, approachable.

A raven flew through the forest, to land on a tree. A squirrel leapt from coniferous tree to coniferous tree, only to disappear inside a tree hollow. As an owl left their hollow for the evening, they flew towards the nearby town, and landed on a powerline. A cat raced down a pole and took off towards a house. As it passed through the catdoor, it grew into a human child.

Kin softly padded to the dresser where he kept her clothes. Curious humans and their need for unnatural coverings and modesties... He pulled on her clothes and opened the door leading back outside, ready to people watch. Nevertheless, they are quite fascinating creatures.

Kin pulled his hood up and wandered into the park in search of a bench. She sat down and starting swinging his legs, patiently waiting for passerbys. She spotted a newspaper on the bench beside him and decided to pick it up and see what was interesting.

"'Mensch makes Mayor!', 'Firefighter rescues kitten from tree!', 'Death tolls in local parks rising'" She skipped past the headlines and instead read the comics. His ears perked at the sound of footsteps, and she looked up to see a runner. As the runner passed, Kin got up and followed, borrowing chameleon skin to blend in.

As the runner ran into a shady area, she was overtaken and knocked out. Out of the nearby woods, an injured wolf was dragged over by her own kindred to the runner and Kin. Kin, ever the curious shifter, had read medical journals and was preparing to perform a transplant. A human heart to replace a rapidly failing wolf's.

When he was done with the procedure, one of the watching owls hooted an alarm, people coming. In place of the once-hooded Kin now hovered a bat. All animals took off, the bat to go catch some moths by a nearby lamppost.

As the humans panicked, Kin, kin to all kinds, fair and benevolent in turns, flew off with a full belly.

Name: Alex Rioule
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Background: N/A
Personality: Cocky, proud, insincere, insensitive.

[I hope this is not too mature to be posted on these forums. I only made allusions to things happening but didn't actually mention them.]

Smiling gently as the young man held out his hand to the girl that had just tumbled to the ground he wondered why no one had caught on to his little act yet. It was so clear that they had someone nefarious in their midst, they just couldn't see past the noses on their faces.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there. Are you alright?" As the girl took his hand and allowed him to help her up she gave him a slightly hesitant smile. A shy one this time, perfect.

"What are you doing out here at this time of night? Is something wrong?" Years of practicing did not fail him as he projected a kind, innocent, and completely harmless facade. To everyone else he seemed like the kind of teen that had joined the boy scouts, saved cats from trees, wouldn't hurt a fly, and couldn't get a date if his life depended on it. The kind of young man that women loved to be best friends with but never gave the light of day to.

"I... it's my boyfriend. He's being jerk, and all his friends are there so I Know he's just acting like that to impress them. But..." Realizing she was spilling hr guts to some random guy she'd just met, who had accidentally knocked her down on the street even, she blushed slightly as her eyes widened and a hand went to her bright pink lips.

"But-it's-um." Chuckling Alex waved a hand to stop her from stuttering and gave her a sincere look of understanding.

"Don't worry, I know what you're going through. There was this girl I thought was my girlfriend, but it turned out she was using me. She would be nice to me when we were together but in front of her friends she would always treat me like garbage. I should have known that she was seeing someone else at the same time." Shrugging he put his hand in the pockets of his hoodie as he kicked a can into the alley between two buildings.

"Anyway, do you want a lift home? I was the one who knocked you over and it's getting pretty chilly out, you don't even have a coat." Looking down at herself she realized that the other teen was right. She had forgotten it back at her idiot boyfriend's house. After a moment or two of hesitation, and biting her lip, she smiled.

"Okay."

A week later there was news in the paper of a missing girl, spreading like wildfire. She had left her boyfriend's home after an argument and hadn't been seen since. Sitting in his favourite chair the young man of twenty two chuckled as he read the headline.

'Another one snatched in the Night!' 'No one saw anything.' 'Family devastated, Boyfriend Suspect!' It was nice to see his handiwork appreciated.

A knock at the door a moment later made him set town his tea and paper. Opening the door he smiled politely at the officer who stood there, looking grim.

"Sir, I would like to ask you if you've seen this girl around here." Taking the picture Alex hid his smile well as he took in the image of the young girl. Maria, had been her name.

"Nope, I'm sorry. I've never seen her before. Is there anything else I can help you with today Officer?" The woman narrowed her eyes at his cheery expression but shook her head as she turned to go. Out of the corner of her eye she thought she caught the man grinning, like the cat that got the cream, before he shut the door.

"And so the hunt begins anew~" He said to himself as he went to finish his breakfast.

Only in the way that benevolence and such is really hard to relate if Kin has nobody to uh...work with. Kin's the only one with a name.
