Within seconds there were pounding footsteps that told the guys that they were being followed. Ash muttered something about taking out the humans that Virus had just recruited after her last wave got swallowed by the earth.
"Perhaps you didn't see the copious amounts of iron they're carrying," Puck said, wincing as a knife hurled past him, skidding into the street. "Of course, if you want to make a suicide stand I certainly won't stop you. Though, I'd be disappointed you wouldn't be there for our last duel."
"Scared, Goodfellow?" Ash asked
"In your dreams, princeling."
A pipe hurled through the air, striking Puck in the shoulder. He gasped and staggered, barely catching himself in time, making sure not to drop Lin.

Buzzing laughter echoed behind them. "You can run, little faery boys, but you can't hide," she called. "There are humans everywhere, and all can be my puppets. If you stop now and hand over the girl, I'll even let you choose how you want to die."
Ash snarled, spinning and hurling a spay of ice shards at the woman. She gasped and a zombie leaped into the air to block the attack, the shards tearing through his chest. He collapsed, twitching, and Virus hissed like a furious wasp.
"Oh, nice going, prince," Puck called as the zombies lurched forward with angry cries. "Way to make her mad."

Without warning, a tawny blur attacks the zombies, blazing in anger. Literally. The humans get toasted.

She soon wakes up, slowly jumping out of Ash's arms and shaking her head. "Your welcome for saving your lives..." She groans, clutching her head as she runs. She knows not to look back, being in Track helped her figure that out, it just slows you down. She sighs, "I won't be able to use my powers for a little while..."

"It's fine," Ash murmurs. They burst into a brightly lit square with a marble fountain in the center. People wandered down the sidewalks. Ash slowed, catching Claire's hand and slowed her down. "Don't run, it'll attract their attention." The new crowd chasing them broke apart at the edge of the street, wandering around as if they had always meant to do so. Puck still held Lin in his arms but was now walking beside Ash

The thing that had attacked the humans has disappeared again.
