I honestly think it's a good idea; that would help, and I also think the pet designs should be improved.

Hello, all!

It's been awhile since my last update so I just wanted to share recent progress. Hopefully, this will be the last update. Ideally, the next update will be that the new Breeding Grounds is being released!

This project has, unfortunately, now passed the one-year mark of being in development. While overall, the progress has been much slower than I originally intended, lately, progress has been good! I am pretty much now done with the "Saved Pair" aspect of the new Breeding Grounds and wanted to share a couple screenshots of it.

So, when you have a specific Male and Female that you are intending to breed with more than once, you can save them as a "Saved Pair". When doing this, you can name the Saved Pair as well as attach it to a specific Project.

You will also be able to create Saved Pairs out of pets that you do not necessarily own. For example, if you are using another player's Male that they have up for a Breeding Fee, you can still make Saved Pairs out of that. Obviously, when you go to re-breed that Saved Pair, both pets will need to still be eligible. If the pet you don't own is no longer listed, or on Recovery, or Released, then you can't re-breed.

I still have a couple more things to add to this interface here, so it's a bit barren atm. But it should be sufficient for everyone to get the intention of this feature.

Once you have some Saved Pairs, you can then navigate to the "Saved Pairs" tab to view and manage them. You will be able to sort by Pair Name, Species, or Project - maybe some other parameters too if there's a reason for them. You can then browse through your list and select any one of them to view that Saved Pair.

This window is pretty self explanatory. You can edit the base information for the Saved Pair and change either the Pair Name or the attached Project. You can Quick Breed the Saved Pair, which will instantly re-breed them and produce Offspring. You can load the Saved Pair back into the Breeding Grounds to look at them closer. And, lastly, you can simply delete the Saved Pair if you no longer need it.

There is also various information displayed to help make it easier for players to quickly see all of the relevant information regarding the two pets.

The last major aspect of the new Breeding Grounds that still needs to be worked on is the 'Breeding Marketplace' aspect. This will replace the current system and allow players to list their pets up for public or private breeding via their set fee and conditions, including length of time, amount of offspring, etc.

Then, of course, there will be a tab in the Breeding Grounds for players to browse all breeding eligible pets.

Once those two things are done, then the Breeding Grounds is basically complete and will be released. However, that won't mean that development on it will stop there. I still have plans to add additional features to the Breeding Grounds, such as a "Project Management" tab. This would allow you to view all of your current projects and manage them.

I am sure once the new Breeding Grounds is released and players have a chance to get used to the new features, there will be lots of feedback on how to improve things. I will, of course, be open to that and do my best to accommodate everyone's wishes.

At this point in time, I am hoping to have the Breeding Grounds finished and finally released either by end of March (optimistic) or by end of April (I think this is very reasonable). Either way, my goal is to absolutely get this feature finally released before this year's Spring Festival in May!

This looks amazing! I appreciate all the work you're putting in to this. The main question that popped in my mind is will we be able to add individual pets to a breeding project without a mate? So I can see all the pets I have tagged for that project and decide who I want to breed to who?

ETA: Or would I just need to search within the same types of parameters that we have now?

With the "Saved Pairs" option, no. It will be Male/Female combo only. However, that is why I want to add a "Project Manager" tab where you then will be able to do actions like that - add individual pets to a project, track offspring, etc. Unfortunately, that's just a whole other thing and I don't want to delay the Breeding Grounds even further to build that. It's easily something I can just work on and implement after it's released.

Once the last bit is done, the 'marketplace' feature, you will be able to use that to search your own pets too. I plan on adding all sorts of parameters to that so that will at least give you guys a much easier way of browsing your own pets to find what you're looking for. I want to allow searching by themed, stats, traits, names, etc. That will be included when the new Breeding Grounds is released.

It probably read somewhere right there but will there be info when selecting pets to breed if they're related? That's something I've struggled with (accidentally breeding siblings etc) I think it would be a good idea... but it's just an idea. I like overall how this is coming along :D I like how neat and simple it looks (it's a good thing to me).

I don't have anything with that built in yet, other than obviously it won't let you breed two pets that are too closely related.

But I can probably work that into the interface somewhere to make it easier - whether by feature launch or shortly after.

this looks really good so far krin! i might honestly come back to the game once this is released, since breeding has been my primary draw (and unfortunately extremely draining for me). good luck with future development and i hope it all goes smoothly
