The scanner does not pick up on hidden traits. I still don't advise. It will be more than likely that I won't need the pet because of hidden traits.

I don't think you're understanding what hidden trait means. It does not mean carried trait.
It means there is a recessive trait behind the dominant. Each trait has a letter assigned. The earlier in the alphabet means it is more dominant. The dominant trait is always the one you can see on the pet. Example of a hidden trait: A zolnixi has banded stripes (gene 1 A (dominant)) as the visible, but behind that (hidden) is tribal stripes (gene 1 B (recessive)). So the traits for gene 1 on the zolnixi is actually AB (hidden trait) versus just AA.
You can view this when searching for a pet and going to the genetics tab. The pet needs to be tested first for the hidden traits to be viewable on advanced search.
When you scan a wild pet it reveals the CARRIES... but there is no way to see the HIDDENS under a visible trait.
