The question is one Kavaratti has asked himself. It's also one that he's long since understood the answer to and accepted.
"Well, dragons are intelligent," he says, voice soft despite his heavy tone, "but so are humans, and if humans can do bad things, then dragons can too."
"Dragons are dangerous." A statement made in a gentle tone, almost a whisper.
"Not all of them give humans that trust. So if they hurt people, how can I let them continue?"
"Meeting Spillage, getting to know her, it really was amazing. But if you're meeting a dragon with a history of violence-"
Kavaratti cuts himself off, eyes fluttering closed. It takes a moment before he starts talking again, before he admits, "They're terrifying too, not just wonderful. I can't risk that. I can't risk people on that."

She looked over, and nodded slowly after thinking. *you kill the ones that can harm you or other humans and dragons, but protect and trust the good ones. Is that correct?* she asked slowly.

"Yes," Kavaratti agrees, though it's only partially true. He has never needed to protect a dragon, and he has only needed to rely a dragon being good once. There is only one he trusts; well, one and its pod. Still, the killing is true. "I only hunt dragons when they're threatening. There's not much of a reason to otherwise, seeing how there's more than enough of those to keep me in business."
He skims over the top of Alexis's supplies, separating the food and water supplies from the rest to store them into crates. After a moment of thought, he places the cauldron nearby, nestling it in to prevent it from rolling around.
The plans and forge are a bit harder. He can tie the latter to the floor with some ropes and the storage hooks he's installed on the wall, but the former are a bit more fragile. He'll store them with his other books and papers. And since he's going-
"Would you like to see the records I have about dragons?" Kavaratti asks.

She watched him work silently, curious. When he asked about her seeing the dragon records, she smiled and nodded.

Seeing Alexis's response, Kavaratti takes a moment to take a roll of cloth before he stands, wiping his hands against one another. He takes the lamp lighting the storage room and brings it towards a small doorway, which opens up to another room.
Two large chests sit on the floor, one beside a hanging hammock and another beside a small desk. Kavaratti sets their light down on latter and crouches down by the chest beside it, flipping its latch open to reveal a wealth of knowledge. Bundled papers and bound books, the majority of which are on dragons.
"This one is the most comprehensive, at least for the dragons that live on land," he says, handing a leather journal to Alexis. He takes out another, checking to make sure it's blank, before placing it the other. "And you can use this one to keep notes if you want."
"Would it be okay if we kept your plans in here?"

Her eyes went wide in awe and joy as she looked over the notes, grabbing a notebook before taking out a strange peice of paper and spreading it, revealing a massive map of the Archipelago. She began scribbling notes about dragons that live in certian locations, as well as dragon notes in her journal. She was obviously very distracted and just nodded in his direction when he mentioned the plans, as she scribbled into her notebook and muttering.
(Like a certain green-haired hero. If you know, you know.)

(Ahh, Midoriya Izuku! :D He definitely seems similar to Alexis, seeing given how he's got the same observant and smart personality with a trouble backstory. Do you have any MHA characters?)
Kavaratti takes in the ordered chaos from the side, paper spread across the table and charcoal pencil realizes across the map. It takes him a moment to realize what she's doing, but his eyes widen once he realizes that she's transferring the information. Knowing that the process will take a long time, he leaves her to it, turning instead to string up a second hammock in the room.

(Nope! I dont know much about MHA, but I know the main gist about the characters - as long as I have pictures, I dont really remember names well. Never bothered with MHA RPs because I never watched the show when they were popular and by the time I had the basic gist of the show no more RPs were happening.
She just kept working for over two hours, ignoring everything as she transferred info and cross-checked it with her own notes. Shes kinda crazy like that.

(Ah, fair fair. I watched Godzilla Minus One yesterday, and it definitely made Godzilla seem very fearsome. It didn't show up often but, wow, when it does. :,D)
Kavaratti sees this, using this time to finish some of his own work. In the beginning, that's finishing the hammock, which now hangs securely beside his own. Then, that becomes checking the map, calculating their course, and readjusting their sails before he turns towards finishing the sorting of the rest of the supplies.
At the end of those two hours, he returns to the room, amazed at the progress Alexis has made. Still, he taps on the table, voice soft. "You should take a break to sleep," he says.

Granted you would be running the show for it since I havent really watched the show, so yeah.)
