Later, the four of them walked down a narrow, ice-slick trail, the Chill sorrow manor growing smaller and smaller behind them. Sometime that day the gnomes had disappeared; the house was empty when they left, as if it had been that way for a hundred years. Lin's coat tinkled musically when she walked, like tiny wind chimes. Puck had ignored the disapproving glare of Ash when he had given it to her.
