Ochyllyss smiled. "Eprin. I've never seen his sister before, but yes, Eprin is nice. I was offered a room there even being a Salihn and all," She stopped suddenly. "So, uh, have you had lunch by any chance?" She covered quickly, not wanting him to question her name.

Camilla continued smiling very softly, enjoying the ability to simply sit down and rest for a moment. It felt like she'd been running a marathon. Of course...in many ways she had been this last week, but she still felt like she had no idea where or what she was running to.
"I might be inclined to agree with you on that," she said somewhat cynically, "Nevertheless, for most people it is a very real and wonderful thing. However, some men use marriage as a way to say that they own their wife, which gives them the right to do whatever they want to them and more often than not that involves very unpleasant things. My husband to be was one of those kind of men...so I ran."
There, she said it, shared her story with another person for the first time, and she felt a deep sense of relief after it was done. Perhaps this was her first step towards moving forward and finding her path.

The boy began playing with a pebble on the ground using his shoe as he nodded. "Yeah. Eprin made sure I got some. Said my dad can pay for it when he gets back," he answered.
(Also he's like 9 so he wouldn't question her name lol.)

Quruxus barked out her musical laugh again, shaking her head mirthfully at your words. "First you tell me that humans like to be bound to each other. Then, you tell me that they do it for the sake of love, something that is clearly a myth. And now, you expect me to believe that men are real?" her laughter overwhelmed her. "Folly! I call folly," she choked out through her - surprisingly pretty - amusement.

Camilla arched an eyebrow and the colorful woman, smiling bemusedly at her laughter. It seemed that despite how absurd she considered her own upbringing to be, there were others out there just as different and unusual as she was. It was a comforting thought.
"I'm sorry to inform you," she said to Quruxus, chuckling very softly herself, "But everything I've told is in fact very real. Perhaps not where you are from or that you've seen, but men do exist, people here believe in love and marriage can have multiple purposes, particularly for a man." Her expression darkened slightly as her thoughts turn to what her fate might have been had she stayed at home and done her duty to her family by becoming that man's wife.

Quruxus frowned at this, her lower lip pouting out slightly in that endearing way it does when she frowns. "Well, men obviously don't have a purpose, do they? Women can find their own food, find their own shelter, and create their daughters on their own. The three essentials of living, my momma would say," she stated proudly.

Camilla realized as she sat there staring at Qur's pouting lip, that she hadn't even really stopped to think about just what this woman was. She certainly wasn't human, that was becoming clearer by the minute. It was her last statement that essentially stunned Camilla for a moment.
"Oh dear...," she said, mainly to herself, shaking her head slightly. What was she even supposed to say? This was not the sort of thing proper ladies talked about, but it clear that something needed to be explained. Besides, she thought, it wasn't like her mother was there to admonish her.
"That isn't actually the way it works for humans...or any other species I've ever heard of. For us to...reproduce, we have have both a man as well as a woman."

At this, Quruxus' eyes widened slightly in astonishment. "Really?" she gasped. "Do you not just perform the Ritual of the Full Moon on the Spring High Tide?" she shook her head in disbelief. "Because gosh, my momma said that ritual works every time. Have you humans tried it? It may work, you know," she told you matter-of-factly. "I was thinking, if I got lonely, I could go back to the sea and make my own daughter," she commented absentmindedly.
She then frowned and cocked her head to the side as a thought hit her. "I wonder if my momma decided to make another one after I left. She always said she didn't wanna risk having another broken child, though."

The conversation had reached a critically bizarre stage and Camilla was starting to have trouble process everything. It was obvious Quruxus was some type of being that she had never seen or heard of, but she wasn't sure if it was proper to ask. However, everything that Qur was saying was becoming more and more strange and she wasn't sure how much longer she was going to be able to go without asking.
"I am pretty positive it wouldn't work," she said, since she could think of nothing else to say at the moment. She stared at the other woman for what felt like a long time, though it was probably only a minute. Finally she decided there was no time like the present...
"Much of what you've said makes very little sense to me," she stated, then added as an aside, "Though I understand about others thinking you're broken. I hope you don't mind me asking but...what are you?"

Oblivious to your confusion, Quruxus returned to the dead jaguar and took another bite of its leg. However, she did look at you curiously at your final question. "Well, I'm a Siren," she said after finishing her bite, as if that explained everything. "And I don't know about 'others' being the right word. You're only the second being I've ever met, personally," she shrugged. "My momma was the only one to say I was a broken Siren because I wouldn't eat human. She thought that maybe she did the ritual wrong, but I thought maybe I'm broken because she ate too much fish in the few days I spent in her womb," she mused blatantly, and then very suddenly changed the topic. "And what are you, Schon?"
